PERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS AS A CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE AND CONTROL

It is inspiring to realize that in choosing our response to circumstances, we powerfully affect our circumstances. When we change one part of chemical formula, we change the nature of the results. When an organization is headed by a creative, talented, capable, brilliant and a very dynamic person, he could certainly read trends. He might have a dictatorial style of management for which the net effect would result in complaints, irresponsible comments and articulations by the executives and staff around him, but there are people who are proactive and driven by values, not feelings. He anticipates and reads the situation. He would work with the leader’s strengths – his vision, talent and creativity. He focuses on his circle of influence. He not only reads the needs of his boss with empathy, but also presents information with analysis and recommendations. The recommendations are consistent with analysis and the analysis is consistent with the data. Subsequently the leader realizes and the change is noticed in his functional behaviour. He instead of bossing over and dictating, would ask for opinions. This means, his circle of influence had grown.

It is the nature of reactive people to absolve themselves of responsibility, resulting in negative involvement leading to collusive in the name of others weakness. But proactive people would stand hard in their optimism and commitment. When little by little the circle of influence grows, the proactive man would continue to expand with his personal involvement. The leader doesn’t feel threatened due to the proactive man’s strength which eventually complemented his own strength and compensated for his weakness. In fact it is the strength of the entire complementary team. Focus on the circle of influence would really make the difference. A section of people might interpret “proactive” to mean pushy, aggressive or insensitive. But they aren’t. They actually read the reality and realize what is needed. Therefore personal effectiveness is the real circle of influence and control but not pessimism or dictates of any individual. Sooner than later, leader would change the dictatorial behaviour due to proactive influence, which will be for the interest of the organization.

BEHAVIORAL CHANGES IN WOMEN OF PRESENT GENERATION

Women of the present generation are not merely house-wives. They are independent, self-assured, self-confident, and savvyand quite often manage a career apart from looking after their home with equal competence and efficiency. They can handle awkward situations confidently whether these relate to grief, trauma, and separation (when their husbands are away on maneuvers) or when handling the proverbially difficult mothers-in-law. Today’s woman is not a decorative, one dimensional person whose life revolves merely around dressing, make-up, kitty parties, gossip and small talks. Quite to the contrary, the girl today is moving shoulder to shoulder with man, sometimes even ahead. She is aware of what is happening both nationally as well as internationally. She brings up her children much better than what the previous generation could do. She is far advanced in every sphere of life.

Notwithstanding the above, it is also true that the present generation of girls is not very much attuned to the prevailing social customs and traditions. This discord and inability to pull together lead to lack of social cohesion, which in turn results in disharmony. Obviously therefore, one of the most important aims must be how they should conduct themselves graciously and with harmony in general and interacting with the elder members in particular. We have a unique and continuous social culture going back thousands of years in which respect for elders is inextricably woven. It is both correct as well as necessary for girls to understand that the privileges that are taken for granted must not be misused.

As long as the girl knows that her duties and obligations come first always and every time and her privileges come last always and every time, she is on the right lines towards becoming a useful and successful woman.

The formative years are the most important in anyone’s life or career. The formative years has great bearing on one’s personality. So a girl must imbibe the correct culture and learn to conduct herself as a useful and cooperative member wherever she is affiliated to. Though obligations far outweigh the privileges, but superficially the reverse appears to be the cause. Remember! reaching an exalted position is not the only means, but to prepare and train hard is the end. It is therefore necessary to keep in mind the following golden principles as the career progresses.

a)Please understand that your personality is a sum total of God given talent and acquired traits.

b)Create a happy and healthy environment in the family.

c)Learn to be magnanimous with your colleagues and friends.

d)Do not live in a self-siege syndrome i.e. harboring a perception of choking feelings.

e)Learn to take suppressions with grace. Destiny has a lot to do with it.

f)Always carry a smile on your face and display a warm hear. Avoid stiff-necked approach.

All these will automatically take care of situations and problems. She can do a colossal lot to better the quality of Life.

IMBALANCE CAUSED BY NUCLEAR BOMB

Scientists have suggested that the smoke produced after a nuclear explosion may significantly affect the earth’s climate for a long period of time. This black smoke can have a serious climatic effect by blocking the sun light and causing a severe cooling on the earth surface. The blacker the smoke the higher the content of carbon and most strongly it absorbs solar energy. It causes a reduction in the green house effect and reduces ground temperature.

It also produces unprecedented radiation due to exchange of nuclear weapons. This penetrates and damages biological tissues. This surely causes sickness and death to humans and other organisms. Its effect alters drastically the normal heat balance and continental surfaces. The oceans play an important role in influencing the earth’s climates. If ocean conditions have changed, this can have a profound effect on the global climates. Monsoons cause seasonal differences between land and sea surface temperatures. But a nuclear war can totally change the normal rainfall patterns which will disrupt the normal human life.

There will be a substantial reduction in precipitation over most of the world in post war environment. It is considered that nuclear war will cause serious global climatic and environmental disturbances for years- may be permanently changed. Japan’s devastation is a glaring example for all of us. Thus nuclear explosion will certainly have a devastating effect on our planet. Life is one and the world is one. Hence let’s ensure not to use nuclear weapons for destruction of mankind and imbalance the nature.

YOUTH FESTIVALS – THE BEST PLATFORM FOR EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Education is no longer restricted to bookish knowledge and the four walls of colleges and universities.Apart from the activities in the class rooms, laboratories and libraries, a student has an opportunity to find out and express his hidden potential in the form of various extra-curricular activities. Youth festivals are the best platforms for such activities.

It is essential for all-round development of a student that he should participate in one or the other activity. There are many extracurricular activities. Some of them are declamation, debate, histrionics, painting, music, dance, singing, poetry recitation, etc. Mere class room study sometimes makes boring and monotonous and hence students need some outlet for their energy. They also need opportunities for entertainment. Youth Festivals are the spice of academic life. When students prepare for various items, they have a sense of achievement, a sense of doing something useful. Preparing the stage for show, receiving the guest artists from other institutions and looking after them inculcate in them a sense of responsibility, co-operation and tolerance.

As the competitions of these youth festivals are organized among students of almost the same age, they get rid of the stage phobia. They no longer feel shy of the audience and the stage. They learn to face the audience. Thus they cultivate self-confidence.

Youth festivals are the best means to search the talent among the youth. These budding artists will become the singers, actors and orators of tomorrow. Youth festivals prove to be the stepping stone for the future real life. Absence of youth makes student’s life insipid, uninspiring and boring. As such students take to subservient activities. If they remain busy in preparing for competition in youth festivals, their time could be used in productive and fruitful way.

AIM THE TARGET

When time goes wrong with you, you should not get stressed or discouraged, rather you should assemble all your strength and caliber to make the situation in a condition that is acceptable to you. It is not the thing that your strengths and power will only do the whole job, you have to sacrifice yourself too in making the right use of power. Remember the most important thing that the real powers are not materialistic, they are abstract. These abstract powers lie within you and no one else. The simple way to face any condition is just to be yourself. There is a thing in which you must believe that it maybe late but it’s never too late. You can start your journey by aiming the goal within you and try to struggle and practice your power till you achieve.

Always try to be the reason for a crowd. Never try to be a part of it. A person who can dream something can also achieve it in reality. The only thing required is the courage to face the drastic situations which may come in the voyage to achieve success. Just remember that success is a path where only the next step declares that you are only one step behind success.

EMPTINESS

What kind of life is this! good, bad, awful, awesome or what; the only answer to this question is that it can’t be answered in a single word. It has a variety of spices mixed in it which make us get involved in it. It’s really very interesting. That’s why we are so attracted towards it and always want to solve the huge riddle behind it and the achievement what everyone gets is “ the unsolved mystery.”

A time comes in everybody’s life when a question strikes the mind, heart and soul all at once------“AM I SATISFIED?” Yes this is a reality which is faced by everyone. In my personal opinion if you have never come across this question in your life then you are surely travelling in a wrong path watching a midsummer’s nightmare.

Another fact is that the answer is always---“ NO”. No one is ever satisfied in this fictitious world. To answer “YES” is to only cheat yourself and nothing else. We can only find certain ways to reach a certain level of satisfaction but no one can get 100% satisfaction in life. This is the universal truth which we must accept.
