QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION /
- Professional qualification in social work.
- Registered with HCPC
- Post graduate management qualification
- Evidence of training/ education in the legal and procedural social care frameworks related to working with individuals and families in a specialist palliative care setting
- Possession of practice teaching qualification
- Counselling/psychotherapy qualification
SKILLS AND ABILITIES /
- Proven ability to assess levels of risk to clients/ employees
- Aptitude to develop constructive working relationships with professional colleagues both within and outside the hospice setting.
- Ability to accurately monitor and control operational budgets.
- Substantiated leadership qualitiesthat motivate and guide a multi-disciplinary team to meet challenging outcomes
- High level Influencing and communication skills to manage change, and drive service improvement.
- Excellent writing skills in order to prepare and present reports using management information to evidence recommendations.
- Committed to providing personalised and empowering social work support to people with complex and multiple problems, with end-of-life care needs, advanced illness, or long term disability.
- Advanced IT skills including Outlook/ Microsoft word/ PowerPoint and Excel
- Language skills relevant to ethnic populations served by hospice
EXPERIENCE /
- Significant post-qualification social work experience
- Experience of working as a manager in the context of palliative care, community development or related area
- Substantial experience of team and individual staff management and professional supervision
- Substantial experience of monitoring and improving quality of service provision
- Significant experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing change.
- Experience of managing and coordinating complex case-work negotiating across professional groups and agencies.
- Substantial experience of managing safeguarding incidents and complex risk events that involve vulnerable adults.
- Experience of delivering projects in partnership with health and third sector agencies
- Substantial experience of managing staff and volunteers, including recruitment, supervision, performance management.
- Substantial experience of educating and facilitating learning in a variety of environments.
- Significant experience of frequentlymanaging distressing situations, and evidence of emotional resilience.
- Experience of overseeing the delivery of projects, meeting milestones and project outcomes.
- Experience of managing budgets, keeping accurate financial records and writing budget reports.
- Experience and evidence of successful engagement with local community organisations and groups
- Experience of working in a multi-cultural setting.
- Experienced trainer/practice teacher
- Experience of working with external funding organisations
- Experience of presenting material to national audience/ conference.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING /
- Up to date and accurate knowledge of legislation for provision of adult social care services to vulnerable adults, including continuing care legislation and process.
- Knowledge of policy issues relevant to palliative care, welfare benefits and community development.
- Detailed knowledge of national adult safeguarding legislation and procedure, and CQC regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of the impact of life threatening illness and disability and their treatment upon individuals and families and the resources available to them.
- Knowledge of personalised support and coproduction of services with user lead organisations.
- In depth understanding of the ethos of palliative care and supporting people and their families at the end of life.
- Evidence of commitment to continuous professional development for self and others.
- Understanding and commitment to equal opportunities
