1. Qualifications:

Essential: Good general standard of education

Desirable: NVQ qualification or equivalent

2. Experience

· Experience of working with children in a caring or educational environment

· Ability to work with children at all levels regardless of specific individual need and identify learning styles as appropriate

· Ability to relate to children and adults

3. Skills

· Working knowledge and understanding of principles of child development, learning styles and independent learning

· Empathy with the needs of children and young people

· Ability to work effectively within a team environment, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities

· Ability to manage pupils in a classroom setting

· Good communication skills - able to effectively communicate with children and colleagues

· Effective use of ICT to support learning

· Knowledge of first aid desirable but not essential
