PERRY COUNTY COMMISSION MINUTES

MONDAY, JULY 13, 2015

Now on the 13thday of the July term of 2015, the Perry County Commission met with Presiding Commissioner Carl Leuckel, Jr., 1stDistrict Commissioner Patrick Heaps, 2ndDistrict Commissioner James L. Sutterer and County Clerk Jared W. Kutz present.

Prior Minutes

Commissioner Sutterer motioned to approve the prior Commission minutes dated July 9, 2015. Commissioner Leuckel seconded the motion and the motion passed by vote:Commissioner Leuckel (yes), Commissioner Heaps (yes) and Commissioner Sutterer (yes)

Road & Bridge Report

Now at this time the Commission meets with Mr. Randy Steffens, the Perry County Road & Bridge Supervisor who reported on the activities of his department.

Commissioner Sutterer advised he would be inquiring with Hoff Brothers regarding the County Road & Bridge purchase of a 2007 Freightliner Columbia to be used to pull the new belly-dump trailer the County has ordered and is estimated to be completed and delivered towards the end of July. The cost of the Freightliner Columbia is estimated to be $28,000. The Commission agreed to inspect the vehicle and tabled any further discussion until more information could be obtained.

Now at this time the Commission meets with Perry County residents Leon Gotto and Dan Gotto, who live on Perry County road 702 who are concerned with traffic flow and the speed of motorist on Perry County roads. After thorough description of the problems they are having on their road Dan Gotto suggested he would like to see the current speed limit of 45 miles per hour reduced to 35 miles an hour.

Commissioner Heaps presented the Commission with correspondence he received from Wayne and Sharon Gotto of PCR 702 who have similar concerns in the area and are concerned with the high rate of speed motorist travel at and the increased risk of causing accidents, specifically when traversing narrow bridges and around blind corners.

The Commission took the individuals concerns under advisement and informed them the Commission would consider potential alternatives to address the traffic speed concerns.

Emergency Management

Now at this time the Commission meets with Perry County Emergency management director Hank Voelker who advised the Commission on the activities of his department and reported flood levels in the area were receding.

General Session

Now at this time the Commission meets with Mr. Tom Frasher of the Perryville Chamber of Commerce who reported he will bring approximately one dozen individuals, who are participating in Leadership Perryville,to visit with County Leaders on Tuesday July 14, 2015.

Now at this time the Commission welcomes Karen Clifton of the Perry County Health Department who informed the Commission of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (MO-DHSS) and the Office of Veterinary Public Health (OVPH) program to increase public awareness of tick-borne illness and advise outdoor adventurers to properly take protective actions like applying insect repellent or checking for ticks after outings.

Clifton requested the Commission post signs provided by MO-DHSS and OVPH at the County’s Legion Lake property for the general public to see. Seeing no opposition the Commission agreed to post the signs and Commissioner Leuckel

Adjourn

With there being no further business, Commissioner Sutterer motioned to adjourn the meeting until Thursday, July 16, 2015. CommissionerHeaps seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Leuckel (yes), Commissioner Heaps (yes) and Commissioner Sutterer (yes).
