Perfect Hatred in the Bible.

Ps. 139:21-24. Pray.

Let us think for a few moments about HATE. We hear a lot about hate today. There is a lot of hate all around us. Bible believers are often accused of HATE SPEECH when we stand against the sins of the hell bound hedonistic heathen of modern times. Many biblical heroes would certainly be cubby-holed as haters by the pompous, politically correct, progressive pansies in the popular parade of Vanity Fair. Now, the divinely inspired Psalmist said in Ps.5:5, that God HATES all workers of iniquity. Since that is so, and God can do no wrong, I submit to you that HATE is getting a bad rap at times today. Notice also in our text how the Psalmist claims, himself, to have “Perfect Hatred”. What is THAT? Normally, we think of perfection as something to strive for and attain. Yes, we know the Bible often uses the word perfect to describe reaching the place of full maturity and completeness. Well, even taken in that meaning, a full and complete hatred is not describing something that is wrong in our text. The Psalmist is confident with his Perfect Hatred according to verses 23-24. For the sake of brevity, let us consider three points about HATE.

THE HATE OF THE GOD OF THE BIBLE. Ps.5:5.

  1. God is Holy, Just and Good. He does not lie.

A. Ps.99:9, 73:1, Gen.18:25, Tit.1:2.

2. God is Sovereign, Almighty and Immutable.

A. Dan.4:35, Gen.17:1, Mal.3:6.

3. God hates with Perfect Hatred in all His Divine Attributes.

A. Rom.1:18-19, Eph.5:5-7, Rev.16:1.

THE HATE OF THE GODLY OF THE BIBLE.

  1. The Godly are repentant sinners who hate all they were and could have been.
  2. Col.3:5-7, 1Cor.6:9-11.
  3. The Godly are New Creatures in Christ and His Ambassadors.
  4. 2Cor.5:17, 20-21.
  5. The Godly must hate and stand against evil.
  6. Ps.97:10, Gal.5:1, Eph.6:11-13.

THE HATE OF THE GODLESS OF THE BIBLE.

  1. The Godless are idolatrous God haters. Ex.20:4-6.
  2. The Godless hate the righteous. Ps.34:21, Jn.15:18, 1Jn.3:12-13.
  3. The Godless hate ZION. Ps.129:5.
  4. The Godless are anti-Semitic. 2Kings 19:31-34.
  5. The Godless are anti-Christ. 1Jn.2:18-22.

CONCLUSION: According to the Bible there is a Biblical hate that is an appropriate hate. God hates and He can do not wrong. His - is a hate, which is right. Who is on the Lord’s side? The Godly are on the Lord’s side. They love what He loves and they hate what He hates. The Godless, on the other hand, have sided with God’s enemy. They hate God. They hate God’s people. They hate all that stands for God’s standard of truth and righteousness. Many in the world today do not have the old landmarks to keep them on the straight and narrow way. Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Look to HIM and be ye reconciled to God. AMEN.
