Mission Statement: / The primary mission(s) of the respective disciplines within Anthropology are to teach and expand comparative areas and knowledge concerning human adaptation, survival and beliefs. Anthropology is the field of inquiry that studies human culture and evolutionary aspects of human biology. It includes cultural anthropology, archaeology, Physical Anthropology Laboratory Techniques, and physical, or biological anthropology.
Population Genetics (Anth048AA), was a recently approved course in 2009 and is part of a new interdisciplinary effort. It will not only be an integral element of Merritt College’s Genomics Program but an introductory element of the proposed COA Biosciences Program.
