People Working Cooperatively Receives Grant

from The Kroger Foundation

Grant will support Community Room renovation

CINCINNATI – People Working Cooperatively (PWC), a local nonprofit that provides critical home repair, weatherization, modification and maintenance services to help residents stay safely in their homes, announced today it has received $2,500 from The Kroger Foundation to support the renovation of PWC’s Community Room.

The Community Room is adjacent to PWC headquarters and serves as a meeting place for volunteers before well-known PWC annual events, Repair Affair and Prepare Affair. Prior to the start of its renovation, the room was energy inefficient and could not be utilized year-round due to inadequate heating and cooling. By reconfiguring the room’s space, PWC can accommodate larger groups of volunteers and provide more training opportunities for staff and volunteers throughout the year.

With the help of corporate and foundation grants as well as in-kind and pro bono services, PWC expects to finish the room’s renovation by late spring 2013.

“PWC has a reliable volunteer corps, and we needed a space that was fully functional for meetings and events,” said Bill Hitch, PWC director of Business Development. “Thanks to generous partners like The Kroger Foundation, we’ll be able to have a space that’s welcoming to our volunteers and staff.”
