1.WELCOME: (Laura Willson)

  • Laura Willson called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.
  • Attendance: Laura Willson, Shannon Bull, Derek Hurst, Lynn Gibb, Lesia Lalonde, Andre Martin, Brenda Watson, Alan Stel, Bruce Johnson, Lynda Jones Layng

2.ADOPTION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES February 18, 2014 (Amendment):

  • Refer to Section 7, Old Business, Lunch Club Gaming Funding and amount allocated. A motion was made at the February 18, 2014 meeting approving the sum of $350.00. This motion (approving $350 allocation) replaces a previous motion to approve the sum of $250.00 at the January 21, 2014 meeting.
  • Motion to accept February 18, 2014 PAC Minutes as amended made by D.Hurst, seconded by L. Gibb. Carried.
  • The Lunch Club has received notification that PAC has approved the total of $350.00 from Gaming Funds.
  1. Adoption of Agenda
  • Motion to adopt the agenda made by S. Bull, seconded by L. Gibb. Carried.
  1. TRUSTEE’S REPORT: (Bruce Johnson)

Parents are encouraged to send their comments/feedback to Alan Stel.

  • Public Trustee & Administrator Expenses ~ Benefits of International student program highlighted, as well as weighing expenses/benefits and monitoring expenses.
  • Public Budget Discussions ~ Meeting scheduled for April 23 at 6:30pm (regular scheduled DPAC meeting at Pen Hi Library). SD Secretary-Treasurer prepares the budget.

5 .PRINCIPAL’S REPORT: (Alan Stel)

  • Bell Schedule Change for 2014-2015 (2 mins. off Break #1, 1 min. off Break #2, 2 mins off Lunch Break).
  • Bell schedule shared & seeking approval ~ Parents/PAC are to send feedback and/or concerns to Principal, Alan Stel
  • School-Wide Survey Results – Will present at the next PAC meeting (April)
  • “White Hatter’ Darren Laur presentation ~ Tremendous positive feedback from both students and parents.
  • Parent/Teacher interviews: April 3 ~ Reasonable attendance however lower than the first term.
  • Professional Development Days for next year (2014-15) have been identified as Aug. 27, Aug. 28, Oct. 23, Nov. 28, Feb. 20, and May 1, 2015.
  • Student Behaviour Update ~ Referred to an incident on this date. As always the swift action of the RCMP and staff are sincerely appreciated.

6.DPAC REPORT: (Derek Hurst)

  • Derek Hurst reported the next meeting would be held Wednesday, March 23. The meeting agenda has been dedicated to District Budget presentation & review.
  1. GAMING REQUESTS:

Info Sharing:

  • Green House project – Community Foundations has approved funding for the sum of $8,500.00. Thank you to Brenda & Shannon for submitting the application.
  • Reach for the Top – Thank you to PAC for providing funding toward this incredible event held at UBC
  • ESL Students to Victoria – A great opportunity with students from PSS, PM & Summerland
  • Lunch Club – Thank you to Shannon Bull who received additional funding from Valley First ($500.00)

i)PAC Gaming Grants – Old Business

  • Graphing Calculators (2013) – André reviewed the Treasure’s file and records show that the graphing calculators were previously paid.
  • Receipts are to be directed to the PSS – bookkeeper.
  • Gaming funds were allocated to sports teams if they went to provincials.

PAC requested a list of teams that did not make it to provincials, so Gaming money may be reallocated if any other further funding requests are submitted prior to year-end.

Alan will confirm the team list for the May meeting.

ii)PAC Gaming Grants – New Request(s)

  • New Application for Gaming Revenue reviewed from PSS Music Department requesting funds related to National Music Fest competition.

Motion made to approve the request as submitted by Derek Hurst, seconded by Shannon Bull. Carried.

  1. OLD BUSINESS: (Laura Willson)
  • Status of Community Foundations and Telus Grant Applications
  • Communication Foundations approved $8,500
  • Telus Grant - No update available

9.NEW BUSINESS:

  • Annual General Meeting – Call out required for General meeting to be held on June 10 and a call for nominations for 2014-2015 PAC Executive. Alan Stel will enter this information in the upcoming Newsletter that is being mailed April 24.
  • PAC General Account – Transaction / Fundraising Request – The School District Concert Band is embarking on major fundraising initiatives including a draw requiring a gaming license and this requires a beneficiary ‘PAC Account’ for funds to be deposited.

A motion was made that the District Concert Band may use the PSS-Operating Account for Music Fest Fundraising initiatives as a beneficiary to obtain a gaming license and deposit profits from ticket sales. Motion made by Derek Hurst, seconded by Lynn Gibb. Carried.

As much as possible, minimize deposits and transactions so not to create extra accounting.

10.TREASURER’S REPORT: (Andre Martin)

  • Gaming Account: $ 25,917.85 as of February 20, 2014
  • Gaming Account: $ 23,631.05 as of March 20, 2014
  • Operating Account: $ 52.37 as of March 20, 2014

11.PAC MAIL:

  • Thank you note with team picture from Sr. Girls Basketball for PAC funding.

  • BCCPAC Meeting May 31 – June 1, 2014

PSS PAC will review Resolutions at the next meeting.
