Goal 1: The students will increase math scores by 2%.

Strategy 1: Non-linguistic Representation - Teachers who wish to take advantage of all modes of learning will encourage students to make non-linguistic representations of their thinking. These can take many forms. When students make concept maps, idea webs, dramatizations, and other types of non-linguistic representation, they are actively creating a model of their thinking. Computer simulations also encourage exploration and experimentation by allowing learners to manipulate their learning experience and visualize results. Category: Develop/Implement

Strategy 2: Reduction in Class Size - The hiring of additional teachers will reduce class size. will reduce the class size. The reduction in class size will provide enhanced opportunities for individual and/or small group direct instructional opportunities. This will provide both short and long term benefits for students.

Strategy 3: Enhanced leadership opportunities for students - Students will have multiple opportunities to be leaders in our school. By providing students enhanced leadership opportunities, they will have a greater sense of ownership regarding their own learning. Leadership opportunities will be provided through clubs, the classroom, and school wide programs.

Goal 2: The students will increase reading scores by 2%.

Strategy 1: Demonstrate an understanding of a text - Teachers will increase student text understanding through ongoing professional development and utilization of research based strategies. Through professional development opportunities, planning sessions with the instructional coach, curricular planning, and utilization of graphic organizers, teachers will enhance opportunities for students to increase their understanding of grade-level texts.

Strategy 4: Early Preparation for Incoming Kindergarten Students - We will be starting a summer school program for incoming kindergarten students. The goal of this program is to prepare students for kindergarten. Many students come to school with limited background knowledge and experience with being around other children. This program will help them be more prepared.

Goal 3: All English Learners will make adequate progress in language acquisition.

Strategy 1: Using Visuals - Through the use of visual aids teachers will enhance EL students' language acquisition. These visual aids will be used in whole and small group instruction. They will also be utilized in general education, special education, and EL educational settings.
