PEI Screenwriters’ Bootcamp 2015

June 20-14, 2015

The ninthannual PEI Screenwriters’ Bootcamp, presented in collaboration with Telefilm Canada, Innovation PEI, and the Island Media Arts Coop is taking place the week of June 20-24, 2015 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island at The Haviland Club, 2 Haviland Street.

The Screenwriters’ Bootcamp is a professional development opportunity for emerging and mid-career creators from Atlantic Canada, offering one-on-one mentoring and group sessions with industry professionals. There are no workshop fees, and some funding subsidies are available.

Participants are invited to attend based on the quality of their submission.

OBJECTIVES

1. To provide emerging and mid-career writers mentoring in the development of a script for a feature film or bible for a dramatic web or television series; and

2. To create opportunities for these writers to pitch their properties to regional, national, and international producers and broadcasters, and provide a forum for networking.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible, participants must be residents of one of the four Atlantic provinces; be an emerging or mid-career creator; be available for all activities scheduled from

June 20-24, 2015 (inclusive).

Each participant must also have provided a complete submission for the PEI Screenwriters’ Bootcamp to the Island Media Arts Coop, P.O. Box 2726, 115 Richmond Street, Charlottetown, PE C1A 8C3 postmarked, hand delivered, or sent via e-mail to o later than Monday, May 4, 2015.

Projects will be chosen based on the quality of writing andappeal of the idea presented. A maximum of twenty projects will beselected, and writing teams of two may apply.

SUBMISSIONS

All submissions must include a signed and completed Application Form plus the following documents in digital format.

Submissions for Right for the Big Screen

  • 300-350-word synopsis of an idea for a feature film, 12 pt. Courier, double spaced;
  • Acv.

Submissions for Right for a Date Night

  • Ten-page treatment, Courier, 12 pt., double spaced for a feature script that would be suitable for a couple’s night out, i.e. Romantic Comedy, Mystery, Comedy, Drama, etc.
  • Acv; and
  • A sample of writing (scene from your proposed feature in proper

script format -- min. 3 pages) visit

Submissons for Ready for a Producer

  • A synopsis that includes the ending (up to six pages, 12 pt. Courier, double spaced);
  • A complete draft of a script of any genre;
  • A cv

Submissions for Right for the Small Screen

  • Three-page outline, 12 pt., Courier, double spacedof an idea for a dramatic series that includes briefdescriptions of main characters, a brief treatment of the overall arc;
  • Acv.
