Peggy Maher-Daniels

Peggy Maher-Daniels is a Human Resources professional with 3 decades of experience learning leadership and communications in the often-head-scratching world of employees and managers.

The author of Dumber Than a Box of Hair: The HR Nightmare Chronicles and an expert in team development, coaching & training, recruiting, and handling employee/labor relations, she has a knack for hitting the nail on the head of what makes America's workforce work and what makes it fail.

Currently Human Resources Manager for Burris Logistics (Elkton, MD), Peggy manages all HR functions for the company's largest site, overseeing and leading an HR staff supporting a population of over 300 team members. She conducts employee relations investigations to mitigate legal risk and exposure, provides guidance to management on coaching and counseling of team members, executes performance management and provides training and development in support of management initiatives.

Prior to joining Burris, she established HR Partners (Bear, DE), providing HR and organizational development consulting to small- and medium-sized businesses. She advised and assisted managers and supervisors on bargaining unit contract queries and progressive discipline methods and procedures as well as preparing employee relations resolutions, memoranda of understanding, side letters, and other union-related documents.

Peggy began her HR career as a Training Officer with Marine Midland Bank before and during their merger with the Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Group in 1987, providing strategic employee-development training programs for managers, supervisors and staff for an operations site overseeing 800 employees. She subsequently managed day-to-day employee relations issues for a site of 400 employees of Corestate Bank (Philadelphia) during their merger with First Pennsylvania Bank.

At Citibank USA, Wilmington, DE, she began in 1993 and served as a Training Officer and Assistant Vice President/Human Resources, directing post-merger integration activities for the credit card site, which grew from 360 to 630 employees in one year. She was responsible for employment policy, benefits, compensation, staffing and organizational development from its inception, and she conducted and trained management on new merger HR policies. She also developed collegiate relationships and established a college recruitment program with the Northeastern U.S. Colleges and Universities.

In 2002, she became HR Manager for Delaware Federal Credit Union (Dover, DE), where she managed all HR and training functions for six branches statewide.

Peggy holds a Master of Science in Administration of Justice from Wilmington University, Wilmington, DE, where she serves today as an Adjunct Faculty Member. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Wesley College, Dover.

Peggy Maher-Daniels resides in Delaware with her husband Mark, two sons, and their yellow Lab Caden.
