PE- Long term plan- Princefields First Primary Academy 2017/2018
Subject:To improve teaching and participation of PE. / Leader:BB (Y5) JH (PS)Identified area of focus:To develop knowledge of the PE curriculum for PE, also planning, assessment and recording methods to ensure greater confidence in delivering good quality teaching and learning.
Context: Within the school, teachers have expressed how they lack in confidence with the delivery of PE, particularly teaching such units as ‘ball games’ ‘gymnastics’. Also, the school lacks in a formal way of assessing the children in PE and recording this evidence. Also, the school want to create a better structure so the pupils get the chance to experience different sports.
Success Criteria:
1. To engage all pupils in regular physical activity – kick-starting healthy active lifestyles
2. To show a profile of how PE and sport is being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement
3. To show increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
4. To create a broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
5. To increase participation in competitive sport both inside and outside of school
6. To evidence the progression of children’s development in PE.
