PE Grant and its impact

The PE Grant is a new Government initiative. The school receives £8000 plus £5 per pupil for the year. This is the 3rd year it has run.

At Whitchurch we are committed to ensuring that all children enjoy and participate in sport. We strive to give children the opportunity to try a range of sports.

At Whitchurch Primary School we have used our PE Grant in the following ways:-

1.  In 2013/2014 we employed a PE Apprentice through Exeter College. Our Apprentice worked at school as a PE Teaching Assistant and worked with small groups of children, particularly those children who find PE difficult. He also ran a football club and Whitchurch Woodland Project.

2.  In 2014/2016 he passed his sports teaching assistant apprenticeship and has been employed on a temporary contract as a sports TA. He continues to carry out the same role as 2013/2014 but now supports a wide range of PE sessions and clubs.

3.  Part of the grant has been used to join OCRA which enables us to take part in local sporting competition and specialised class sport training.

4.  Please read the list below (which is up to date to April 2015) as to the clubs we run and how well we are doing in competitions. You will see clearly that our sports achievements and the number of children participating in sport has grown over a two year period. We are achieving outstanding results for all of our children.
