III. Activities for 2012-2013 (past and on-going projects) –
Majority of the of the activities of the chapter were meetings in line with the preparation for the 15th PCCP Midyear Convention last August 3-4 2012 at the Legend Hotel, Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
Last March 23, 2012 inline with the celebration of World TB Day, a forum was sponsored by the chapter wherein the speaker was the late Sec Jesse Robredo, conducted at National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.
July 13, 2012 the chapter officers and members of the Organizing Committee paid a courtesy call to the office of former Senator Miguel Zubiri, who was also the keynote speaker for the said Midyear Convention. Later in the evening a meeting was also conducted at Alabang, sponsored by GSK with Dr Raymund Salvador gave a lecture on LMWH and DVT
Also last July in line with the celebration of World Spirometry Day, simultaneous lectures and free spirometry were conducted by the chapter members to the different areas namely:

July 21, 2012 we also paid a courtesy call and meeting with the City Mayor of Puerto Prinsesa, Palawan Hon. Edward Hagedorn at CEO Hotel, Jupiter st. Makati
August 3-4 2012 – PCCP Midyear Convention at Legend Hotel, Puerto Prinsesa, Palawan themed “ Sa Pinoy Baga’ Pulmonary Medicine Pinoy Style”
August 7, 2012 –Asthma Fair at SM Lipa, Batangas activity conducted by Lipa Group of Pulmonologist.
November 14, 2012 – World COPD Day, a lecture was conducted by Dr. Veyda Bringas at Bilibid Prison.
November 14, 2012 – World COPD Day- COPD Awareness thru Posters and Lay Fora, speaker was Dr Amado Gurango and Almira Onia held at the Bay Elementary School.
November 20, 2012 – launching of the TB DOTS Center in San Pablo Medical Center.
December 4, 2012 – lecture was held at Holy Family Hospital in Laguna by Dr Claudette Gabrillo regarding COPD and a Spirometry screening was also conducted with 25 participants screened.
December 4, 2012 - Lecture on “Spot TB Test” “Cellular Blood Test for the detection of latent and Active Tuberculosis” at Batangas Medical Society Building, Batangas. Speaker: Dr. Santiago Castillo.

December 7, 2012 – Christmas party of the chapter was held at Bellevue Hotel ,Alabang, Muntinlupa with a theme 70s retro party.
January 20 2013 – Post Convention meeting was held at Figaro and TAI’s Best.
February 9, 2013 – meeting and election of new set of officers for the chapter was held at Phoenix Court Bellevue Hotel , Alabang, Muntinlupa . it was sponsored by Novartis and a lecture was provided by Dr. Tim Trinidad on COPD and Spirometry Interpretation Guidelines. The incoming new officers for the chapter were:

February 17, 2013 – another post convention meeting was held at Molito Alabang, Muntinlupa.
Ongoing research being conducted by the Lipa Group of Pulmonologist headed by Dr Lito Atienza, namely 3 Global Clinical Trials on Asthma and 3 Global Clinical Trials on COPD
The chapter sponsored an activity with the theme Advocacy on Tobacco and Health wherein simultaneous lectures on Anti-Smoking were given as a Pre-Convention activity last August 2, 2012 at Palawan National High School and Holy Trinity University in Palawan, speakers were Dr Consuelo Obillo and Dr Ma. Encarnita Limpin respectively.

IV. Future Activities / Timelines
The Chapter will continue its Advocacy on COPD and Asthma through series of lectures and Fora to be conducted by the members to the different component areas of the chapter.
A series of lectures and Fora on Anti-Smoking are being scheduled to be conducted at different Private and Public schools in Lucena.
Provide lectures on Spirometry interpretation and also promote awareness regarding COPD and spirometry to Internists and General Practitioners in the Southern Tagalog areas. And also to provide Free Spirometry Screening.
Plan to organize a Fun Run for DVT Awareness.

Mid-year Convention Report
ATTENDANCE:
The PCCP Mid-year Convention was held on August 3 & 4, 2012 at Legend Hotel, Puerto Princesa, Palawan with a total attendees of 579. Among those who attended are: 333 members including Board of Directors, Past Presidents including the Organizing Committee; 41 government physicians; 29 Pulmonary Fellows-in-training; 107 IM residents; 24 allied medical staff including nurses; and 45 unclassified delegates. (see Appendix A)
FEEDBACK:
Based on the response of 261 delegates, the convention’s scientific sessions, convention materials, facilities and services were graded on the average as 4.2 on 1-5 scale with 5 being the highest. The instructional level of the program was assessed to be appropriate. Majority of the respondents learned about the convention through colleagues and friends, some through posters, mailed conference materials and press releases. Other comments are attached in Appendix B.
