Excess Teaching Duty Hours (ETDHs) /
NOTE:PLEASE ATTACH A COPY OF THE TEACHER’S WORK PLAN which clearly outlines in detail the ETDHs over the required 800 hours (for a full time teacher) less any relevant allowances.

Payment for ETDH’s will be in accordance with the provisions of the MBA Cl 19.19 as follows:

Monday to Saturday inclusive

19.19.1.Where the excess teaching duty occurs within the span of ordinary hours, an amount of 50% of the ordinary hourly rate.

19.19.2.Where the excess teaching duty occurs outside the span of ordinary hours, at the rate of 150% of the ordinary hourly rate for each excess teaching hour for the first two hours on each day.

19.19.3.Where the excess teaching duty occurs outside the span of ordinary hours, at the rate of 200% of the ordinary hourly rate for each excess teaching hour beyond the first two hours on each day.

Sunday

19.19.4.In all cases, at the rate of 200% of the ordinary hourly rate.

Payment for ETDHs will be made in the following pay period after a claim for payment is made UNLESS the teacher makes a written request for payment inadvance for ETDHs that are scheduled to be undertaken over a semester (see over the page).

REQUEST FOR PAYMENT OF ETDHs IN ADVANCE

NOTE: Only to be completed if requesting payment of excess teaching duty hours IN ADVANCE

In accordance with the provisions of the Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Multi-Business Agreement (MBA) Clause 19.20, the University may approve payment of authorised, planned ETDHs as part of a teacher’s fortnightly salaryin advance of the EDTHs being performed.

In addition, the University may also deduct from the teacher’s salary and/or termination of employment entitlements, any payments made under this clause for authorised, plannedexcess teaching duty hours that have not been performed by the teacher.

Teacher’s request

In reference to my authorised, planned excess teaching duty hours specified on the ‘Authorisation of Excess Teaching Duty Hours (ETDHs) form overleaf and attached Work Plan,I request that payment be made for the authorised, planned excess teaching duty hours in my regular fortnightly pay.

In making this request, I acknowledge that:

(a)This request is subject to the University’s approval.

(b) The payment for any ETDHs to be performed between 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday will be treated as ordinary time earnings for the purpose of employer Superannuation Guarantee Contributions.

(c) If this request is approved by the University and some of the excess teaching duty payments are paid in advance of such teaching being performed, I understand that I will not be entitled to retain those payments in advance for any ETDH’s that I havenot performed. In this case, I hereby authorise the University to deduct any payments made in advance for ETDHs which I have not performed, from my salary and/or termination of employment entitlements.
