Paul Pence Declares Candidacy for Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island
Quality Management Systems specialist Paul Pence, known as the publisher of Rhode Island Roads Magazine, declares his candidacy for the Republican Party nomination for Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island. He agrees with the late Bob Healey that the Lt. Governor position has been a waste of taxpayer money, but instead of eliminating the position, he considers the best path is using the role as a coach, facilitator, and problem solver to improve the effectiveness and responsiveness of the RI government.
(Warwick, RI, November 6, 2017) – Political newcomer, Paul Pence, declared his candidacy for Rhode Island’s Lieutenant Governor over the weekend. As a quality management systems specialist, he cites his problem solving, project management, and facilitation skills as key to making the Lieutenant Governor role bring value for the taxpayers.
“Bob Healey was right,” Pence said, “If all we do with the role of Lieutenant Governor is use it to park a faithful party member before retirement, we are wasting the taxpayers’ hard-earned money. Let’s not waste that money, let’s elect a problem solver with the mission to make the state government more responsive to the people of Rhode Island.”
Vying for the Republican Party nomination, Pence has no political experience, which he considers important to being a problem solver and facilitator. “Politicians come with baggage that complicates working with others. While I have principles and preferences, the first and most important role of the Lieutenant Governor should be to make sure that the government functions run smoothly, effectively, and in a way that is responsible to the citizens of Rhode Island,” Pence said.
Pence’s career experience has been primarily as a manufacturing process engineer and quality management systems professional. He is presently the Senior Quality Management Systems and Food Safety Specialist for Toray Plastics in North Kingstown. He also has a significant presence in Rhode Island’s tourism sector as the publisher of Rhode Island Roads Magazine for the last 15 years.
