Paul Michael Alindog was born on January 9, 1991 in Torrance, California and after a courageous battle with cancer, died on May 27, 2009. As a young boy, his family moved to the Philippines where he lived until 2002 when he returned with his mother to Long Beach for medical care. Paul attended LongfellowElementary School, HughesMiddle School and PolyHigh School. Though he lost his left arm and shoulder to cancer, Paul never considered himself disabled and participated fully in academics, athletics, music and student council during his middle school years. Throughout this time, Paul impressed all who knew him with his faith, courage, compassion, determination, cheerfulness, friendliness, and positive attitude. After arriving at Poly in the fall of 2006, Paul continued his involvement in campus activities. In addition to excelling in the rigorous Center for International Commerce program, he became part of the choral jazz group and joined the badminton team. Paul was twice selected as Most Inspiring Student, once as the Hughes representative and once as the Poly representative. In addition to his contributions to campus life, Paul was active in fundraising for the Camp Ronald McDonald House and the City of Hope. All this, and he still found time to get on the golf course and to try out for the local baseball team! When his cancer returned in April of 2007, Paul faced the challenge with his characteristic courage and determination. He continued to set goals for himself and would frequently be found with his textbooks spread out on his hospital bed, notebook in lap preparing for his next exam. All visitors were welcomed with a friendly smile and big hug and questions about how “you” were doing. One of Paul’s recent contributions was as a patient medical advisor on the new movie, My Sister’s Keeper, starring Cameron Diaz.

Paul is survived by his loving mother Leoni, his brother Mark, his stepfather Marc Bouvier and stepbrother Logan. He will be missed by all who had the honor to meet him including many, many friends, family members and dedicated medical staff.
