Patterson PTA General Meeting Minutes 4/11/18

Meeting called to order by Megan Fastabendat 9:34am.

Minutes were approved from March 8th, 2018, motion made by Rita Malloy and seconded by RakheeRaveendran.

Committee Reports -

Shannon’s report – VP Administration

  • Teacher Appreciation Week
  • May 7th-11th
  • Hospitality team Anna Ruge and Chrissy Fumo are doing a great job with the Panera Breakfast
  • Monday – Snacks
  • Wednesday – Popcorn
  • Thursday – Olive Garden luncheon
  • Friday – Goodies
  • Theme is Super Hero – no live flowers
  • $10/child recommended donation
  • Form coming home soon

Stephanie’s report – VP Finance

  • April 24th – Freedom Brothers restaurant night and ordering during the day for the teachers
  • Traverso’sraised $305
  • Lou Malnati’s - April 11th from 4-10pm
  • Chipotle raised $567.28
  • May 8th Chick-fil-A from 3pm-10pm
  • May 23rdRed Robin in Plainfield
  • Diary Queen in June
  • Summer Bridge book order information coming out soon
  • Square One Art came home and orders are due April 16th and we should receive the products May 7th
  • Spirit Wear orders and trying to target the 5th grade parents with the blankets and graduation signs

Carrie’s report – VP Enrichment/Social

  • Reading program –

  • Cougars game is May 27th at 6:30pm
  • Community Service
  • Bernie’s Book Drive going on now through April 18th
  • Impact Naperville – April 14th – volunteering together participating in activities that impact the community
  • Spring Family Fun – April 14th at Aurora Skate Center from 5-7pm
  • Donuts with Dad April 24th/25th
  • Variety Show May 11th, practice May 9th

Yan’s report - Treasurer

  • Income for April $900
  • Expenses for April $596.14

Megan’s report – President

  • Membership Hub
  • Directory online with membership
  • How to log on to Member Hub
  • Working on getting the merchant agreement set-up to take online payments

Mrs. Frost’s Report

  • Duct Tape fundraiser IPEF success – over $500 raised
  • 25th Anniversary Celebration on August 25th from 2-5pm
  • Facebook Page taking over with 755+ people on it – Yeah!
  • Looking at a DJ
  • Kona Ice, bounce houses, pay as you go food
  • Time capsule being buried and tree being planted
  • 2018-2019 Important Dates –
  • Curriculum night – Wednesday, September 12th, 2018
  • Orange ruler – Kick-off September 12th – 26th, fun run the 28th
  • Meet and Greet August 16th, 2018
  • Cultural Night – February 8th
  • Science Fair – March 13th
  • STEAM Day – March 8th
  • Variety Show – May 3rd(tentative)
  • IPEF Bingo Night on April 20th
  • Family Fun Night on April 14th
  • Field Day is Tuesday, May 29th with rain date May 30th
  • PARCC Testing is going well
  • Kindergarten Preview Night is April 25th at 6:30pm
  • Author visit for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders by Eric Cahn Gale on April 25th and an open house from 4-6pm on the 25th

  • Forms for placement next year are in the current S’more, if you have submitted something in the past and would like it considered again, please resubmit that form

IPPC report

  • Board officially changed the last day of school to June 1st
  • Membership Hub becoming a requirement for the IL PTAs
  • April 16th is the last day to sign up for IPEF marathon
  • More kids signed up for school as $13 per kid comes back to the school
  • Charity runners for Patterson – they need more as the
  • Training for PTA at NIU
  • 25% of the kids who made it to nationals for Reflections were from District 204
  • Gift cards still be collected for kids who are considered homeless in the district – Walmart, Meijer, Target, etc.
  • Legislation is out there and the IL PTA is supporting the bills out there currently
  • Presentation from the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator about the safety and security of our schools
  • If you see something, say something in the schools
  • Wagner Farms subdivision/Book Road subdivisions coming in and trying to figure out the zoning for those properties

New Business

  • Kindergarten T-Shirts for orientation day for about 65 students next year
  • Will be put in the budget for next year
  • Checking with Spirit Wear on costs, etc.

Future Meetings

  • Last PTA Meeting and Breakfast on 5/10/18 at 9:30am with breakfast and then the PTA meeting will follow at 10am
