Key Emphasis

This is a key role within the organisation and will involve travel and overnight stays to increase Stop Hate UK’s profile ensuring commissioners and other stakeholders are aware of our services and outcomes. It will include attending and organising events as will involve travel and overnight stays across the UK.

Key Tasks

Communications and marketing strategy

  • Review existing communications strategies.

Website and online communications

  • Develop the content of the website ensuring its linkages to other online communication and stakeholders.

Social media

  • Develop and manage Stop Hate UK’s social media activity and promote its use amongst staff and trustees.

Media contacts, promotion and external relations

  • Develop effective messaging, promoting Stop Hate UK to wide audiences and ensuring consistency of brand
  • Organise media releases, place stories and maintain good working relationships with Media organisations particularly those in Stop Hate Line areas
  • Make effective relationships with individuals and organisations and promote the role of Stop Hate UK to them
  • Service user outcomes: conduct and evaluate the service user outcomes.
  • Plan and co-ordinate activities to celebrate our 20th anniversary celebrations and National Hate Crime Awareness week.

Publications

  • Produce the Stop Hate UK quarterly newsletters.

Stop Hate UK staff: shared tasks

Relationship building

  • Foster and develop relationships with a wide range of individuals and organisations related to Stop Hate UK work
  • Attend events and other networking opportunities to promote Stop Hate UK.

Business opportunities

  • Identify and take forward opportunities for Stop Hate UK to develop new business and income generation.

General

  • To take calls on the organisations helplines.
  • Work closely with Stop Hate UK colleagues and support the staff team
  • Contribute actively to Stop Hate UK
  • Comply with health and safety legislation and Stop Hate UK policies and procedures
  • Actively demonstrate Stop Hate UK values
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post, which may reasonably be required from time to time.

Managing Self

To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature.

The post holder’s duties must at all times be carried out in compliance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

It is the duty of the post holder not to act in a prejudicial or discriminatory manner towards service users or employees. The post holder should also counteract such practice or behaviour by challenging or reporting it.

Ensure the Health and Safety of all staff and resources within the post holder’s area of responsibility, i.e. delegated responsibility in relation to the nature of the post holder’s duties and personal responsibilities as per Section 7 and 8 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

In addition to this the Management of the Health and Safety at Work

Regulations 1992 detail the following:

  • Employees must inform their employer or/supervisor of any work situation which might present a serious and imminent danger to Health and Safety.
  • Employees must inform their employer or supervisor of any shortcomings in the Health and Safety arrangements even when no danger exists.
