Matters Arising:
1)Minutes of the last meeting were agreed by all.
Barbara explained reasons for not visiting the surgery last month to obtain feedback-from Patients, but will endeavor to do so with Margaret this month.
2)Staffing levels
Staffing levels have been resumed to normal and the practice is running on adequate staff. We have stabilised the use of Locum GP’s but agreeing ‘long term’ arrangements with them;
- Dr Shazia Tariq (Female)
- Dr Ranjan Bhattacharaya (Male)
- Dr Ada Eze (F)
- Dr Twana Siddiq (M)
- Dr Kele Wogu (F)
- Dr Ashrafur Rahim (M)
3)Appointments
Further to the PPG issue raised that we have an ‘unfair’ appointment access – the doors are now opened at 08:30, synchronising with the timing of telephone calls received. There will be:
- PRE BOOKED APPOINTMENTS BETWEEN 8:30am – 9:30am
- BOOK ON THE DAY 09:30am – 4pm.
- ON LINE APPOINTMENTS via the website
- URGENT APPOINTMENTS – Late afternoons
*** For those who wait outside for the surgery to open in the morning, please be aware there are patients who already have a booked appointment for 8:30am and will need to ‘check in’ in a timely manner to prevent delays throughout the morning.!!!
4)Parking Issues
The surgery has been contacted by a local land owner willing to sell land for car parking near the surgery! Barbara toforwardinformation to the Planning Team at New Romney Town Council in efforts to improve access to the surgery. A meeting will be proposed between the PPG group, Counsellor, Carol Waters, SCD & New Romney Planning Teams, in the hope of joint support in our worthy need to minimise the danger and improve the organisation of traffic surrounding our surgery during busy periods.
It was also suggested that a ‘2 hour maximum limit’ for parking on Church Road & Church Lane will also improve access to the surgery and the town.
5)Community issues
The surgery has received good support in recent weeks from the South East Coast Ambulance Team of paramedics to provide home visits to patients on the surgeries behalf, due to low staff numbers.
Fund-raising
The PPG have discussed fundraising activities for ’Emergency’ medical equipment within the practice to improve services, such as baby weighing scales, paediatricpulse oximeters, nebulisers etc….. It was agreed that The Country Fair is an ideal opportunity for ‘Fun-Raising’ on the 30thJuly, an event our whole community supports!
.
6)Patient Feedback
Our committee members Barbara and Margaret will be visiting the surgery to obtain feedback / views of patient experiences at the surgery.
LOOK OUT……….. they will be wearing ‘bright yellow’ badges!
We have also launched our yearly Questionnaire regarding the service we provide, please take the time to complete and return to us as your feedback is very important to us.
The meeting closed at 1pm.
Please do contact us if you have any ‘ideas’ or ‘suggestions’ to improve our services.
