Accomplishments to Date:

1998-1999

  • Meeting with Dr. Jean Donham to select a Research Model in the spring of 1999.
  • Collaborative unit writing using the Pathways Model in summer 1999.

1999-2000

  • Introduction of Research Model to Elementary Teachers in September 1999.
  • Establishment of the Pathways Advisory Committee in the fall of 1999.
  • Meeting to set common goals in McHenry, IL in December 1999.
  • Meeting with Kathy Learn, Dr. Jean Donham, Marcia Jensen and Secondary English Chairs to talk about the Research Model in conjunction with the Secondary School Curriculum.
  • Workshop for Elementary teachers, TAG, and Media Specialists with Dr. Pappas in February 2000.
  • Introduction of Research Model to Secondary Language Arts teachers by Dr. Pappas in February 2000.
  • District participation in the professional filming of an instructional video on the Pathways Model in May 2000.
  • Collaboration with Follett to make instructional video about Pathways in May 2000.
  • Pathways Model written into the District CSIP Plan during the summer of 2000.
  • Collaborative Internet Search Class through SCC with tie-ins to Pathways in August 2000.

2000-2001

  • Begin implementation of Pathways Research Model at the Elementary Level during 2000-2001 school year.
  • Introductory presentation to Reading Specialists and Elementary Principals in September 2000.
  • District Media Specialists added to the new Follett WebBoard focused on Pathways in the Fall of 2000.
  • Grad class offered on Pathways and Information Literacy during fall of 2000.
  • Half-day inservices begun for Media Specialists during fall of 2000 to continue throughout the year with a large component concerning the Pathways Model.
  • Individual presentations at schools by Media Specialists and other staff to introduce the Pathways Model.
  • Informational meeting for facilitators and coordinators.
  • Informational meeting for Reading Specialists.
  • Presentation of the Model and inservicing of teachers in the five Reading Grant Schools during October and November of 2000.
  • Met with Dr. Pappas using WebBoard to discuss units and collaboration already in progress.
  • Monthly inservicing of media specialists at Media meetings.
  • Grad class for Secondary teachers cancelled because of lack of registrations.
  • Daylong workshop with Dr. Pappas for Secondary Language Arts teachers, TAG instructors, and Media Specialists on January 31, 2001.
  • Secondary schools receive introduction from teams participating at Pappas workshops.
  • Informational meetings for Secondary principals at their meeting in May.
  • Pathways was included among District benchmarks on the District CSIP Plan.

2001-2002

  • Survey given to Media Specialists to get information on program implementation throughout the District.
  • Results of the survey indicated a need for more accountability for this program.
  • Beginning discussions on an accountability instrument.
  • WebBoard discontinued by Follett.
  • Pathways presentation as part of an AEA Media Specialists’ Academy.

2002-2003

  • Instruction in the Pathways Model offered for TAG personnel and Media Specialists who had not been in the original training sessions.
  • Online accountability instrument developed to begin documentation of Pathways activities.
  • Accountability document presented to Media Specialists.
