Part-Time Safeguarding Officer Role – Job Description
Role purpose:
· Supporting the Head of Safeguarding to pro-actively promote and raise safeguarding awareness and assist with responding appropriately to safeguarding incidents, concerns and allegations.
Main duties include but are not limited to:
• To work with the Head of Safeguarding to implement and promote the Club’s safeguarding policies and procedures for children, young people and adults at risk within their department, updating as required.
• Develop ad review the Clubs Safeguarding Policies in conjunction with all parts of the Business.
• Contribute to maintaining and improving the Club’s safeguarding provision.
• Advise others working with vulnerable groups on the implementation of organisational policies and procedures to safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable groups.
• Ensure staff understands their individual responsibilities to safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable groups.
• Act as a source of safeguarding support, advice and expertise within their department.
• Support colleagues to respond appropriately to concerns about the welfare or safety of vulnerable groups.
• To give direction and guidance to staff in respect of safeguarding incidents, concerns and allegations and assist the Head of Safeguarding with managing these.
• Assist the Head of Safeguarding to maintain accurate and confidential information by developing and maintaining a secure reporting and recording process to be used by the club.
• Pro-actively promote and raise safeguarding awareness, including the development and maintenance of a robust training schedule and training package to cover all staff and board members.
• Produce regular reports on safeguarding to ensure board members are kept informed of issues and general data associated with safeguarding.
• To represent the club at relevant safeguarding forums.
• Attend regular safeguarding training and maintain an up to date knowledge base of relevant legislation, regulations and best practice.
• Promote a safe working environment.
Safeguarding Officer Person Specification
Education and qualifications:
• Relevant level qualification or other extensive relevant safeguarding education and experience.
Knowledge, experience, skills and personal attributes:
• Successful track record of implementing and managing Safeguarding, and providing information to Senior Management levels.
• Experience of writing reports and policies for, and presenting to senior executives.
• Experience in contributing and working as part of a team.
• Knowledge and experience of identifying and managing risk.
• Experience in working directly with vulnerable groups.
• Demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding with a child and adult at risk focused approach.
• Holds and maintains an expert level of knowledge and understanding of government strategy, legislation, guidance and plans for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups as well as the management of safeguarding incidents, concerns and allegations of poor practice and abuse.
• Holds and maintains an expert level of knowledge and understanding of developing and implementing safer recruitment practice.
• Experience in offering safeguarding advice and support to colleagues, vulnerable groups and their parents/carers within a comparable organisation.
• Experience of successful safeguarding policy and procedure development and implementation.
• Experience of developing monitoring, quality assurance and improvement processes.
• Experience of safeguarding training/education development, delivery and evaluation specific to individual roles and responsibilities within a comparable organisation.
• Ability to provide robust and evaluative evidence demonstrating progress, achievements and compliance.
• Ability to work effectively under own direction and demonstrate effective strategic leadership without close supervision or day to day management.
• Remains focused on responsibilities and objectives.
• Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

Hours: 6 days a month
Salary: £12,000 pa. Holidays 20 days a year pro rata
