Movie Archetype Assignment

Choose any movie or book you would like to use for this project, and get your selection approved by Mr. Partain no later than Wed, September 11th. The final project is due on Monday, September 16th.

PART ONE - Watch (or remember) a movie, of your choice, and identify the archetypes in it.

  1. Write a half-page summary of the movie that includes both the basic plot and themes.
  1. According to the guidelines of the hero’s journey, fill out the corresponding 2-sided “Hero’s Journey Chart” for your movie.
  1. Identify more archetypes (review each of each of the three categories: situational, characters, and symbolic) and explain in a few sentences each archetype and how it relates to your chosen book/movie. (You can do this on the same piece of paper you completed Part One, Number 1.

PART TWO - Create an archetype visual.

  1. You will create some sort of visually appealing project (mini-poster, poster, printed PowerPoint Presentation, brochure, etc.) that contains the above information. You may also include information on your main character’s possessions, thoughts, and relationships with other characters.
