Roommates Wanted

This is an assignment that will require you to work cooperatively with another student or students. Each should have their own copy of the assignment. Note that some questions are specific just to you.

Here is the scenario:

You are planning to move away from home. You think you have enough money, job skills etc to make the move. In order to make it on your own, you will most likely need to take in two roommates to help with living expenses. This will be a big adjustment for all. Consider these points individually respond to each point and then share with your group members.

Part One: Living Expenses

Question / Your Response / Roommate # 1 / Roommate #2

What personal habits/hobbies would you not be able to tolerate?
i.e. smoker, loud music…
Where will you live? Do you want to live in town, on a bus-line, near your job? Justify your decision
.If you will need to have a roommate(s), does that choice seem doable given your living style, hobbies, interests, goals? Explain.
What other costs are involved with moving out to a place of your own? Brainstorm with your roommate what you think those expenses might be
Explain how you intend to meet those expenses and afford to move out on your own. Detailed responses please.

Follow up question: Discuss in one paragraph why you feel that you might be good roommates. Consider not only the responses from your above chart, but the behavior styles that we did at the beginning of the semester. Are you a good match? Why or why not. What gifts and strengths do you bring to the relationship? What areas would need to work on for compatibility? Again consider your behavior styles. You may want to refer back to the behavior styles assessment booklet.
