The Alice Hurst “Visionary” Award

Named after our oldest graduate, Alice Hurst, who returned to school after retirement, lived in the dorms, graduated at 72 and went onto the Peace Corps. Alice tirelessly promoted adult literacy both in Long Beach and abroad. In her honor, students who receive this award display leadership, compassion, scholarship, determination, and vision.
