Shipping Container Permit Application 2016/17

Permit is granted subject to the provisions of General Purpose Local Laws 2015 – Part 11:37.1 to ensure the safety on roads. The Company, Business is required to provide all details in the application and comply with all conditions for the purpose of occupying Council land for skip bins

Requirements

·  Attach a copy of the Public Liability Insurance. It must be quoted that: “Maribyrnong City Council is noted for its respective rights and Interest”. The amount insured shall be a minimum of $10,000,000

·  Notify the Council by using the attached VWMA Permit Application Form within 48 hours of a shipping container being placed within the Municipality of Maribyrnong City Council

·  Remove the shipping container when directed by an Authorised Council Officer or Police Force Member. Approval from Maribyrnong City Council must be obtained prior to a shipping container being placed within the Municipality.

Guidelines for the placement of Shipping Containers

Shipping Container placed or deposited contrary to the Local Law, or conditions, or permit may be removed and impounded by an authorised officer and/or an infringement notice may be issued.

Conditions

·  At all times on footpaths, a minimum width of 1.5 metres must be left clear for free pedestrian movement.

·  Obstructions, including Shipping Containers shall be effectively lit from sunset to sunrise. It is mandatory that all Shipping Containers comply with the Vic Roads Code of Practice for the placement of Waste Bins on road sides. Published (January 2001).

·  Failure to comply with any or all conditions of this permit may result in the application for a permit being refused, and should any Shipping Container be observed in non-compliance the permit will be revoked and a penalty notice issued.

·  All damage to channels, footways, nature strips, or other Council assets shall be made good on removal of container.

·  The holder of this permit must accept full and total responsibility in the event of any damage which may arise from or involve articles, or things which are deposited or erected on the street road, road related area, or footpath in relation to the works.

·  Water channels shall be kept clear and free from obstructions.

·  The footpath, nature strip, kerb, channel and roadway must be maintained in a clean and tidy condition.

·  Such other conditions as specified on the enclosed permit by the authorised officer.
