Volunteer Opportunities

DOG SOCIALIZER/TRAINER:
Exercise, socialize and train dogs available for adoption while reinforcing positive behavior.

CAT SOCIALIZER:
Socialize and play with cats available for adoption to keep them active and used to being handled.

LAUNDERER:
Blankets and towels are used daily to provide animal comfort. We need people at each shelter to collect, wash & dry blankets and towels and redistribute to animals who need extra care.

KENNEL ASSISTANTS:
Clean and sanitize the kennels so the animals have a healthy environment.

DOG BATHERS/GROOMER:
This position involves bathing and grooming the dogs so they look (and feel) their best.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT/WEB PHOTOGRAPHER:
Various computer oriented duties to advertise adoption animals, keep web site updated with photographs, input data and print reports that volunteers use daily.

FRONT DESK GREETER/KENNEL GREETER:
Greeting and directing visitors is vital! Greet and assist customer as they enter the shelter. Are they looking for their own lost pet? Do they want to adopt a new furry family member? Help them fin their way around!

ENVIRONMENT ENRICHMENT:
Got a few free minutes? we need chew toys filled with treats as part of the Kennel Enhancement Program. Theses are a special treat for our kenneled dogs to relieve boredom.

PUBLIC EDUCATION:
Enjoy talking to kids? Love getting in front of a classroom? We are looking for people with teaching skills to talk to kids in our community about dog bite prevention and responsible pet ownership.

NEWSLETTER WRITER:

Have a talent for writing and an interest in educating about animal care and events? Commit to submitting an article once per quarter, contributing to the quarterly PVCHS newsletter.
