President report:

Unit 3 is working the next funeral. Unit 4 is up to pray the rosary in November. Unit 5 is up to pray the rosary in December.

Made just short of $10,000 profit on our fall dinner. Highest income to date. Heard positives and negatives regarding the dinner. Tips for next year: thinner pork chops, smoked pork chops, only pies (no bars), and plastic (not paper) plates.

Wilma discussed status on the basement. Still not sure what’s causing the “flaking.” She noticed flaking in the stairway on the wall. Humidifiers seem to be helping. May have to dig down,

New business:

Discussed having a card party following mass on March 20th. We would serve a light lunch and start the card tournament at 12:30. Part of a unit would be needed to make and serve food for this.

Discussed poinsetta flowers on altar for Christmas. Jody priced Decorah Greenhouse and Old Mill Floral. Voted on going through Old Mill Floral. Darlys Rausch asked for red and not pink ones.

We will order 2 large plants and 7 little poinsetta plants. We will be decorating for Christmas on December 20th- please spread the word. We will be hanging lights on the back doors since St. Luke’s will be having Christmas Eve mass.

Bernice Dietzenbach was asking for volunteers to visit the elderly in the nursing homes, bringing the elderly meals, and taking them to hospital appointments.

Kelly will be sending Christmas cards and $5 to the residents in nursing home. Rose Goerend volunteered to help write cards and send them. We will also be sending Father Nick and Deacon Jim Christmas presents ($30 Visa cards).

Father Nick approved sending those parishoners making frequent hospital trips $30 gift cards for gas.

We will be sending these to Denise Rausch and Carol Kuennen.

A big thank you to Vicki Pavlovec for volunteering to be the 4th member of our rosary society.

Ideas were discussed on where to invest money that is being raised. Possibilities are the kitchen cupboards in the church basement and also a dishwasher. We will need to talk to a plumber and also get some estimates on cupboards and outlets.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 20th at 7:00 PM in the Community Center.

Motion to adjorn was made by Jody Steinlage and Kelly Kuennen at 8:07. We ended our meeting with a Hail Mary.
