PARENT NEWSLETTER – SPECIAL EDITION 36 – June 10, 2011
John Larkin, Principal
Important Info:
Dear Parents:
The 2010-11 school year has come to an end. It was a year filled with many challenges and some sadness, as well as many successes. Thanks to all of you who have supported us this year. Whether it was at home, in the classroom, or here at school – we needed all of youto make this school year a success. Our Addison school community has grown significantly over the years, but it was very apparent this year in dealing with several unfortunate tragedies and difficult situations encountered here at school. Our Addison families and staff came together in ways that were hard to fathom – always putting the needs of our students first. For that, I am eternally grateful. Thank you!
As a result of those many efforts, our school community grew, our students grew, and ultimately we achieved success. The partnership wecontinue to cultivate enables our students to grow, develop, achieve, and aspire to do great things. We are extremely thankful for that relationship! We hope to continue to cultivate our partnership in the years to come.
On the following pages are listings of all end-of-the-year awards, as well as miscellaneous info for this school year and into next. As you can see, we’ve had many students and parents who have accomplished great things this year at Addison Elementary. Congrats once again to all on a job well done!
As we turn our attention towards summer vacation, work has already begun on the 2011-12 school year. Our calendar for next year is nearly complete, activities are already being planned, and we are anticipating another great school year! When you return in the fall, you will once again be greeted by a warm, caring, nurturing, and talented staff who look forward to achieving the goals of a new school year and working with a new set of smiling faces. Summer will fly, so enjoy it!
To our families and friends leaving Addison Elementary, we wish you all the best in the coming years. To those of you returning in the fall, we look forward to continuing our journey together. We wish Mrs. Noegel, one of our 5th grade teachers, all the best as she enters retirement and moves onto the next stage in her life. Thanks for everything Mrs. Noegel!!
In closing, let me extend my best wishes to all of you for a safe, enjoyable, and fulfilling summer vacation. See you again next fall!
AWARDS
The Award's Program at Addison Elementary has been designed to provide recognition to students for their outstanding accomplishments and to promote high academic standards for all students.
We are continuing a procedure introduced severalyears ago, which acknowledges student achievement for all. This system allows for multiple awards in all categories, so that every student can be recognized for their talents – not just the top one or two students.
This program involves the awarding of “endorsement stickers” for outstanding academic achievement in the following areas: Citizenship, Writing (Penmanship), English (Creative Writing), Spelling, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Computers/Technology, Art, Music, PE, Perfect Attendance, Special Recognition or Improvement.
These awards will be presented to each child by their classroom teacher on the last day of school. We’re excited to continue this program and think your child will find the award to be more meaningful and a nice keepsake for their accomplishments this year. Congratulations to all our students on a fine year!
