TO: ALL PARENTS/GUARDIANS

** Only submit a Free or Reduced Meal Application if you are interested in receiving the benefit. Families do not need to return an application if you don’t qualify or want the benefit. If you want to apply please read all instructions for each section. **

Instructions for Free or Reduced Meal 2016Family Applications:

Submit completed application ASAP or before Friday September 16th. Do not fill out an application if you received a letter in August from Enfield Nutrition Service Office stating your student is FREEbased on the Direct Certification List through the Connecticut Department of Social Services. Please follow the instructions on the letter instead.

 Incomplete applications will be returned and delay determination of benefits. Per federal guidelines, families who list a Case Number will be asked for documentation of proof of the case number before a determination can be made. Please send in the documentation with the application, not doing so will delay determination.Do not useHUSKY medical or CONNECT card, these do not qualify.

Fill out only one application per family, even if your children go to more than one school in Enfield Public Schools. Drop one application off at any one of the schools that your child/children attend. If you filled out an application prior to school starting or, at any time you may drop off or mail the application to: Nutrition Services Office1010 Enfield Street Enfield CT, 06082.

Duplicate applications will delay processing time.If more than one application per family is received, duplicate household applications will be cross referenced before final determination is made. This change was made by the federal government to eliminate the amount of paperwork for the family.

Make sure youlist all household members either in Step 1 or Step 3 and that the total household members is accurate. If the total number of household members is not accurately listed, this will affect your benefit determination and you may not receive the benefits you are eligible for.

Families who received Free or Reduced meals last year.

  • “IMPORTANT”If you were receiving Free or Reduced Meal benefits last year, you still need to apply for the current school year. You must submit a new applicationfor the new school year with current information for your child to continue to receive free or reduced meals. Under state and federal guidelines, we cannot provide free or reduced meals to a child unless we have a current, approved application on file for each child/family.If you do not submit a new application, your child will be changed to PAID and will not receive a free or reduced price meal.

Please allow up to 10 school days for your application to be processed once it is received in our office. You will receive a letter that will let you know if you have been approved, denied, or if we need more information to finish processing your family application.
