The Psychology Department hires a Paraprofessional each year to assist the members of the department in teaching, experimental and administrative work. The selection of the Paraprof is made before Spring Break.

Provide responses to the questions below on a separate sheet or word process them directly into this document. Use as much space as necessary. Attach a résumé if desired. When responding, remember that the department does not expect any applicant to have all of the skills and background inquired about below. Some things can and should be learned once you start the position!

Job Background. We want to know your background, work and otherwise, so that we can determine whether you have some kinds of experience related to the position.

1. Research. Did you do research in the Psychology department? If so, what was it and who was your advisor?

2. Psych jobs. Have you had previous jobs in the Psychology Department? If so, what were they?

3. Campus jobs. Have you had other jobs on campus? If so, what were they?

4. Off-campus jobs. Have you held jobs elsewhere that are applicable to this position?

Skills. Please describe your skills in the following areas:

6. Computer hardware and software. Specifically, your experience with desktop and laptop computers, document scanners, word processing with Microsoft Word, the use of Microsoft Exchange for email, data spreadsheets and analytical tools like SPSS and Microsoft Excel, and other applications (graphics, scanning, HTML editors).

7. Audio/Visual Equipment. Your familiarity with overhead and slide projectors, computer projection systems, audio systems, VCRs, DVD players, digital cameras, digital video recorders, etc.

8. Scheduling. Responsibly keeping and prioritizing a complex and accurate schedule

9. Other skills. Any other skills, experience, or personal qualities you have that you feel are important.
