SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL MINUTES

I.Call to Order: Kimberly Charpentier
- Review and Approve Agenda: First Nohra Auriemma, Second Sheri Trammell
- Review and Approve Minutes from last meeting: First Robert Beiber, Second Jennifer Brito
- Old Business
- Barnes and Noble Family was a success: The Kindergarten sang holiday songs, students made cupcakes and bookmarks, and Mrs. Claus read “The Night BeforeChristmas” to the students.
- New Business
- FACE: Family and Community Engagement: FACE was introduced and explained. We chose Alina Suarez as our Cultural Ambassador for Palm Cove. We went over her questions and answers from the FACE plan. The FACE Bulletin Board was put up at the front of the school with community information for parents in need. A FACE box was also put in the front office for input from teachers, parents, and all stakeholders.
- SAC Accreditation Review PowerPoint for Broward County: The power point was viewed on the large TV and narrated by Kimberly Charpentier. The Accreditation Overview was passed out to each person in coordination with the power point. The powerful practices and improvement priorities were reviewed.
- Vote on purchase of Ready books for 3rd Grade FSA using Accountability funds. Proposal: A quote will be requested to purchase 40 Ready ELA FSA books using the funds from Accountability for the Third Team. First: Sheri Trammell, Second: Nohra Auriemma. All in favor. Approved.
- Principal Update: Mrs. Johnson reviewed the plan for FSA Crunch Time and FSA Camp. She addressed any parent questions.
- Title 1 Updates
- SIP and PIP 2017-18: Sheri Trammell reviewed the SIP with the Title 1 Addendum Plan. She said that it is developed jointly with all stakeholders. We will be looking for input for the creation of the 2017-18 SIP plan. Any suggestions can be emailed to . The parental involvement plan and activities were also discussed. The plan includes the parent activities to be implemented through the schoolyear and an evaluation of last year’s parent program. Staff is encouraged to review the plan and provide any input. - Title 1 Part A monitoring: There might be a state onsite visit next month. More information when available.
- E Binder is at 35% complete
- Title 1 Budget Review: Extended Learning Opportunities were discussed. FSA/FCAT Camps will be starting next month and books and materials were ordered and received. The Parental Involvement Budget was also reviewed.
