Abstract

Name: Technique in combined athletic events

Goal: The main goal of this thesis is to draw attention to errors in the technical performance of individual disciplines in the men's decathlon as presented by the decathlete Dominik Špiláček. A further goal was to compare two videos from each discipline over the last several seasons.

Methods: In our work we used the analytical method and the comparative method. We applied the analytical method in an analysis of the individual disciplines, and we used the comparative method in the comparison part, always using two videos in each discipline's technique.

In the period under consideration of the performance stage we assess changes in the athlete's technique in each event

Results: We found that the athlete's technique has changed every year. During the study the athlete worked with three different coaches. Each coach influenced his technique differently. The athlete did the best performance while being coached by Mr. Beran. Furthermore, we found out, based on the subjective feelings of the athlete, that his technique was best in slow motion.
