Describe and model the processes of fossil formation. / ·  Fossils can form when an organism is buried quickly, deprived of oxygen, heat and pressure that can destroy it, the minerals in the organism are traded with the minerals in the surrounding soil and mud to preserve the fossil specimen. Fossils can be actual remains or evidence like foot prints or leaf prints left in the substrate. / ·  2-3 periods
