Harrington School District is seeking qualified candidates for the following position for the 2016-2017 school year.

Special Education Teacher, K-12/Student Services Coordinator (administers district special education, Title 1, and LAP programs)

Special Education Teacher position will be placed on the state salary scale. Student Services Coordinator receives a stipend ($3200 to $4500 DOE).

·  Small, P-12 rural school (approximately 100 students total)

·  Small class size (average of 10 students per class, K-12)

·  Highly supportive and professional staff

·  Small caseload size (less than 20)

·  2 to 3 full time paraprofessional support staff

·  Additional support through ESD-contracted support staff (school psychologist, SLP)

·  Support and freedom to design and implement a unique, high quality, special education program

TITLE: K-12 Special Education Teacher/Student Services Coordinator

1.0 FTE, Continuing Contract

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Valid teacher certification with special education endorsement or certification in special education area.

2. Experience writing IEP's, performing educational assessment, facilitating team collaboration and developing appropriate programs.

3. Experience working with children having a wide range of special needs.

4. Experience supervising paraprofessionals.

5. Knowledge of and experience working with Special Education, Title I and LAP programs.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: School Superintendent/Principal

SALARY/COMPENSATION: 1. Placement on the state certified salary schedule and benefits.

2. Student Services Coordinator stipend - $3200 to $4500 DOE.

MAJOR RESPONSILITIES: 1. Assist and consult with general educators in the design, implementation and monitoring of appropriate instructional and behavioral programs for special needs students within the general education classroom program or in a special education classroom as appropriate.

2. Serve as the district level IEP manager, with responsibility for overseeing the development, implementation and monitoring of all IEP's and MDT’s.

3. Facilitate communication among general and special education staff, administrators and parents relative to programs designed for students with special needs.

4. Act as a resource person for building staff regarding laws and regulations designed to provide appropriate education for all special needs students.

5. Provide instructional/behavioral assistance for special needs students within a variety of settings.

6. Coordinate and supervise paraprofessionals who implement instructional and behavioral programs for students with special needs to include the Title 1/LAP paraprofessionals.

7. Coordinate and supervise SLP/OT/PT services.

7. Assist in maintaining a continuum of service options within the building programs for special needs students.

8. Complete all appropriate paperwork, in a timely appropriate manner.

9. Maintain accurate and complete student Special Education records for the district and OSPI (monthly/quarterly/annually/tri-annually).

10. Comply with all federal, state and district procedures as related to Special Education, LAP and Title 1 programs.

11. Complete all state and federal reports in a timely appropriate manner.

12. May be required to attend to student's personal hygiene, toileting, or other health needs.

13. Coordinate Child Find services.

14. Schedule and oversee Special Education Committee Meetings.

15. Attend Special Education Regional Meetings.

16. Other duties as assigned.
