Course Title / Art History II
CIP Code
Contact Person(s) / Michael Orf and Cherie McKee-McSwain
Effective date of proposal / January 1, 2013
Proposal Summary / This class is the 2nd semester of a two-part course covering the span of global art history. This will be a thorough survey of our shared visual history, beginning with the end of the Renaissance and continuing into the modern era. Each era will be explored in detail, allowing students to become familiar with the range of imagery, object types, and technologies used in various cultures and time periods.
Need for the proposal / When a survey of current students was conducted concerning their interest in new programs, a fine arts program received the most interest from students. This course is one course needed to begin such a program. This course will also allow us to further determine the need for such a program. In addition, this course can be used as an elective in the Associate of Arts degree in the 15 hour block. This class cannot take the place of one of the fine art classes. Art History I is not a prerequisite.
Curriculum outline / Outcomes/Learning Objectives:
Following completion of this course, the students will be able to:
