Week 2
On Monday 9/1/17 we are going to space like the Bear in the story! Please send your child in with wellies and a colander in a named bag! / Whatever Next / Going on a journey to space

To know that people can travel into space and it’s a job.
To find what an astronaut needs and wears. / So-mi-la songs part2: YooHoo p7 of Space Songbook / On Monday we are going to space, just like Bear does in the story!
Experiments in space: this week we will also try to grow lettuce like NASA astronauts did: / HFW Words for the week.
Encourage your child to go out and look at the moon. Children could make a simple telescope observe the stars and the moon.
Week 3

On the Moon

To know that people are inspired by space like Monsieur Melies -Le Voyage Dans la Lune (The Trip to the Moon) by Georges Méliès and Nick Park.
To build and role play imaginatively. / The Moon Walk: Space Songbook p8 and embed as an exploration activity. / Children will be roleplaying a journey to the moon. Children to make their own films about going to the moon.

/ Stars

The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh / To start to know about stars.
To know that sometimes people are inspired by space to paint – e.g. Mr Van Gogh.
To create imaginatively. / Star song introduction to instruments p12 and then extend with Space Rocket Factory p13. / Children to create a painting using chosen materials.

Look closely at the Starry Nightpainting by Van Gogh and watch How to Catch a Star in stop motion animation: Talk about how artists are inspired by space – what do you like? Can you create a picture or roleplay or music about something that you love?
Week 6

Alien art gallery
Friday 13th February 2.30 -3pm
At the end of this week we will have an alien art gallery at the end of the day in our classrooms.
Please come and see them! / Aliens love Underpants / Aliens / To design your own alien.
To choose and create an alien picture of model. / Return to moon walk p8 and this time teach symbols for representing their music – the alien drawings, children improvise on the theme in exploration. / Alien gallery.
