Overview COED Rules (Indoor)
The St.Albert COED Indoor Soccer league follows all basic Albert Soccer Association Rules and Regulations of Outdoor Soccer, but does have a few specific bylaws that all players need to be aware of. Please read the following and become familiar with the rules prior to the start of the season to avoid any potential conflict.
- The league was formed and is operated as a fun, fair and non-competitive league.
- Premier or Major League players are not allowed to participate in the league.
- There is ABSOLUTELY NO rescheduling allowed in the Indoor season. Due to limited field availability.
- There must be twofemale players per team on the field at all times, even when a team is playing short.(If the goalie is a girl, she does not count towards the two-girl minimum). If a team is unable to supply twofemales, it is up to the other team’s discretion if the game can be still played, and what, if any, accommodations should be made.
- Overly aggressive play is discouraged – for example when there is a 50/50 ball, please do not go in at 100%
- Players are encouraged to exercise caution when kicking the ball at other players, especially female players. If a kick is deemed by the referee to be overly hard, uncontrolled or even dangerous, officials can blow the play down and award a free kick to the offended team. This type of play will be treated as any other aggressive play.
- When kicking at the wall, if you hit any player in the wall above the waist, you will receive an unsportsmanlike call.
- There is absolutely NO SLIDE TACKLING, even by the keeper.‘Slide Tackling’ is defined as “A tackle in soccer in which a player attempts to disrupt the play, or take possession of the ball away from an opponent with neither foot planted on the ground - sliding with one or both legs extended to block or push the ball away from an opposing player.” The slide tackle is committed against an opponent where the ball is within playing distance.Slide tackling is punished with a caution. The restart is an indirect free kick to the opposition from where the offence occurred.
- What is allowed (When done in a safe manner)
- Lunging or reaching for a ball with one foot planted.
- Sliding to play or block a ball where no opponent is involved.
- Playing the ball from the ground from a stationary position.
- Jumping for a ball with neither foot on the ground.
- There is a zero tolerance for foul language, especially when directed towards another player or an official. Such behavior will result in a yellow card at a minimum and possibly a red card (game ejection), depending on the circumstances. Officials may issue a red card for Offensive, Insulting or Abusive Language (OIAL) without warning. The offending team will play short for the entire five minutes (two girls must be on the field at all times during the time penalty)
- Boarding is defined as contact by a player that forces an opponent to hit the boards in a manner that endangers propelling someone into the boards, regardless of the speed or any injury sustained. Any contact, legal or otherwise, by a player that forces an opponent will result in the offending player being issued a red card and sent off for boarding. The offending team will also be assessed a five-minute major time penalty and is not required to put a substitute player in the box to serve the penalty
- Player cards (SASA CO-ED league only – EDSA player cards are not acceptable) are checked prior to each game. Please include your player card number on the game sheet.
- Cards (Red/Yellow).
- 2 yellow cards = automatic ejection from game & 1 game suspension
- Red card = automatic ejection from game, and 1 game suspension
- The player maybe suspended for a longer period of time. Team managers will be advised of this decision.
- If any player does play while being suspended, a fine will be issued.
