OVERCOMING OBJECTIONS TO SCHEDULED (OR SCHEDULING)

FAMILY FOS PRESENTATIONS

We are going to wait until the decision is made to do our presentation.

I fully understand your feelings. However Scouting can’t wait. Kids will be in camp this weekend. Kids will still race their Pinewood Derby Cars. Kids are still looking forward to the National Scout Jamboree. Our work to develop kids into extraordinary adults continues and we need the support of the parents who most benefit from these services more than ever.

The reasons our communities have supported Scouting for 103 years – our ability to help children develop self-confidence, leadership skills, and to learn and grow into productive adults in a safe environment – have not changed and will never change. I am optimistic we can say the same about the support of the families in your unit, but the only way to find out is to ask them. Would you please reconsider?

Our chartered partner does not agree with the policy you are pursuing and we do not wish to support your program at this time.

All our volunteer National Executive Board is doing right now is taking input and considering the best way for our organization to remain relevant and true to our values while impacting the greatest number of young people we can.

Your chartered organization clearly believes that what we do for young people is beneficial and that will never change. Is there someone within your institution I can speak with about this matter because Scouting can’t wait? Kids will be in camp this weekend. Kids will still race their Pinewood Derby Cars. Kids are still looking forward to the National Scout Jamboree.

Our committee has made a decision that with all that is going on we do not think that it is a good time.

We do not want this issue to overshadow our Blue & Gold Banquet.

I fully understand. That night, like everything in Scouting, is about the kids. Not about the debates and arguments of adults. Our presenter will not allow for or entertain questions on this matter. There are mechanisms in place for families and Scouters to provide their feedback; your Blue & Gold is not one of them.
