About the Organizer / Suzhou University of Science and Technology is located in New District of Suzhou, a famous historical and cultural city in China,about 100 km west of Shanghai, the largest city in China.
Entrusted and sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, Suzhou University of Science and Technology has been hosting 31 short training courses, regarding environmental protection technology and management, for people from Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and Oceania since 1993. To date, we have trained about 700 professionals and officials in the fields of environmental protection and energy sources from 101 countries in different regions. The recent three training courses hosted are “2016 Seminar on Environmental Protection Technology and Equipments for Developing Countries”, “2016 Seminar on Urban Pollution Prevention Technology for Developing Countries”. “2016 Seminar on Water Treatment and Drinking Water Quality Control Systems for Sri Lanka Officials” and “2016 Training Course on Environmental Engineering Technology for Developing Countries”. From September 2015, a two years International Master’s Program in Environmental Engineering has been started and there are 40 students of this program studying in university now.
The School of Environmental Science and Engineering, which is responsible for organizing these International training courses and Master’s Program, owns seven modern teaching and research laboratories, including two provincial key laboratories of Environmental Science and Engineering lab, and Environmental Engineering Technology lab, aquatic ecology, microbiology process and analysis laboratories, Water Supply and Drainage, Geomatics, Surveying and Mapping and the Central lab. In addition it has alibrary with online connections to a worldwide network of libraries, and a reading room containing many international journals and magazines. Multi-functional lecture theaters and a fully equipped auditorium that seats 200 people. Extensive ICT facilities, including a studio with videoconferencing facilities. Innovative learning tools, including smart boards, Wi-Fi and remote access to all digital resources.
Course Content / Entrusted by Ministry of Commerce of Peoples Republic of China, Suzhou University of Science and Technology will organize“2017 Training Course on Circular Economy and Sustainable Development Technology for Developing Countries”from June 5th to July 4th, 2017. The course aims at providing the knowledge and scientific basis during decision make and technology application. Officials and technicians from the ministry, local government level, universities and institutions of Environmental Protection, Energy and Natural Resource Development, Zone Development, Disaster Prevention and Controlling departments are invited to attend this course. During the course, facilitators will adopt discussion-based teaching, case studies and interactive model, while stressing the integration of teaching and practice. Participants will have chances to visit some companies of energy utilization, mass circulation and low carbon economy in Suzhou, Shanghai, and Beijing etc. Participants will have interactions with some experts to get a clearer picture of Circular Economy and Sustainable Development Technology in contemporary China and know more about the real China. Participants will also be able to relate well and have a better understanding about what has been introduced during the lectures with what is in the field. The aim is to build up, through lectures and field trips within limited time, a good platform for the participants to broaden their horizons, exchange ideas and acquire knowledge.
