Article IName: Socially Responsible Investment Club (SRI)

Article IIPurpose: Bring socially responsible investing to campus through the following means:

  1. Promote the socially responsible investment of Middlebury College’s endowment
  2. Work with the Student Investment Committee to invest its portion of the endowment in a socially responsible manner
  3. Raise awareness of socially responsible investing through on-campus education initiatives
  4. Travel to select pertinent conferences to bring further knowledge of socially responsible investing to Middlebury College

Article IIIMembership: Membership is open to all Middlebury College students.

Article IVOfficers: SRI will elect Co-Presidents who will be responsible for organizing meetings, finding pertinent conferences, meeting with the Board of Trustees and the Student Investment Committee and other responsibilities as the need arises. One president will serve the duties of the treasurer in maintaining contact with SGA Finance Committee.

Article VElections: All members present for at least half of the meetings held over the previous academic year will have the opportunity to vote in officer elections, to be held in the beginning of March, no later than March 15th. Attendance exceptions will be made for previously active members who are studying abroad. At least three-quarters of the active members of SRI must be present for a vote to take place. Candidates will nominate themselves for officer positions within SRI, and eligible members will vote for their top two choices of candidate for each position. If an officer resigns from his position during the academic year, a vote of all eligible members will be held at the next SRI meeting.

Article VIMeetings: SRI will meet at the discretion of the officers, with a minimum of six meetings per academic semester. Because research on pertinent issues will be ongoing, communication may also be conducted via email.

Article VIICommittees: The officers of SRI will have the ability to appoint standing committees if the need arises.

Article VIIIFaculty/Staff Adviser:

The membership agrees to maintain an adviser from the Middlebury College faculty or staff, as required.

Article IXAffiliations: ACSRI will have no local, state, or national affiliations.

Article XDiscrimination Policy:

This student organization operates in full accordance with Chapter Four, Section II, A of the Middlebury College Handbook concerning Student Organization Policies of Discrimination, Freedom of Association, Anti-Hazing, Freedom of Inquiry and Expression, Student Publication, Funding, Advertising, and Scheduling. Any and all changes made to the Student Organizations Policies section of the Middlebury College Handbook will immediately become policies adopted by the SRI.

Article XIRatification:

A. The constitution must be ratified by a two-thirds majority of the membership.

B. The constitution must be approved by the Student Government Constitution Committee.

Article XIIAmendment:

A. The constitution must be amended by a two-thirds majority of the membership.

B. The constitution must be approved by the Student Government Constitution Committee.
