UNF Music Flagship Program Annual Report (Year 3)

June 27, 2014, Randy Tinnin, Chair/Flagship Director

Section 1, Benchmarks:

It is the goal of the UNF Music Flagship Program to become a School of Music by developing a Master of Music degree program, a Bachelor of Music Performance with a concentration in Music Technology and Production to complement our current bachelor’s degrees in Jazz Studies, Music Performance and Music Education. The Flagship proposal supports these goals by adding new faculty lines and resources to enhance creative opportunities for students and faculty. The original FS proposal has been modified to include three new faculty lines rather than two. These lines are vital to the delivery of our current offerings and the new programs we are developing. We had anticipated adding lines as we developed these programs. The state of the economy made this unrealistic. Therefore the program was modified to include an additional line.

Additional goals include the creation of a Community Music School offering music instruction to students from Pre – K through Adults. The addition of a Community School will enhance our efforts to recruit top music student to UNF and will allow a forum to skills relevant to college readiness. It will also provide a more consistent venue for our UNF Music Mentors Program.

UNF Presents and Music Ambassadors were conceived to make our musical offerings more available to the public by better promoting our on campus concerts and fund student travel for performance opportunities.

Equipment purchases will be needed to support existing programs and our new BM Performance concentration in Music Technology and production.
