We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the 2nd ITU-T Focus Group on IPTV (FG IPTV) meeting from 16 to 20 October 2006 in Busan (Republic of Korea).

At the first meeting of FG IPTV WG6 on “Middleware, Application and Content Platforms”, it was understood that this group is mandated to identify and define middleware platforms, including application, content formats, and their uses, that facilitate effective and interoperable use of an IPTV system for presenting and interacting with IPTV services. The aspects of Service which are particularly relevant to our group are discovery, delivery, navigation, acquisition, and presentation including interaction, of content. Examples of these Service aspects include Metadata, Content Navigation Applications, such as IPG and enhanced EPG, Content Discovery, Content Presentation and execution Engines, and Audio/Video coding.

It came to our attention that Accessibility is an important issue in IPTV.

In the spirit of quick progress on this work, ITU-T IPTV Focus Group would like to review the documents of the UK Clean Audio Forum. We would like to request that the UK Clean Audio Forum submit a contribution to the ITU-T FG IPTV.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please note that all our documents (Inputs, Output, Reports and Liaison Statements) are publicly available and can be obtained from

FG IPTV is looking forward to closer cooperation with the UK Clean Audio Forum on topics of mutual interest.

The next meeting of FG IPTV will be held from 22 to 26 January 2007 in Mountain View, California, USA.
