Tikvat Yisrael Youth Organization

Tikvat (Ha Nevchar) Youth Mission Statement:

Our youth mission is to provide a place where teen students can come together to deepen their relationship with G-d, build relationships with other Messianic teens, worship Yeshua the Messiah, participate in service and outreach opportunities, and develop their Messianic Jewish identity in a fun, culturally relevant setting.

Membership

Membership in Tikvat’s Youth organization “Ha Nevchar” automatically enrolls students as members of our national organization, the YMJA (Young Messianic Jewish Alliance of America), and connects our students to the national movement of Messianic Jewish youth across the country. Annual dues are only $20 which covers membership for both organizations. Members receive discounts on retreats and conferences. The membership application for students can be downloaded off Tikvat’s website or contact our office.

Our Name: הנבחר“Ha Nevchar” – “The Chosen”

Messianic students understand that they are inheriting the calling and the mantle of spiritual authority in the next generation of Jewish & non-Jewish Messianic believers in our Movement. Hence, the previous class chose this name of our youth organization, because they are, “The Chosen”.

Tikvat Youth Ministry Program

  1. Monthly Youth Nights
  • Icebreaker/Short Activity
  • Youth- Led Worship
  • Teaching & Discussion (Developing daily quiet time, Dealing with temptation, Forgiveness, Being in the world and not of the world)
  • Prayer
  1. Activities/Outings
  • Outings for our teens, which gives us the chance to hang out as a youth group in a relaxed, fun setting.
  • Ice-skating, indoor rock climbing, movie nights, visiting the Maltz Museum, having a picnic, etc.
  • During these events, it is always helpful and appreciated when parents help with transportion!
  1. Bring a Friend Events
  • This is an outreach opportunity for teens to prayerfully invite a friend to a youth event, such as lazer tag.
  • The goal is for the teens’ friends to get to know us and have fun in comfortable environment. Hopefully, relationships will be built and the friends will desire to come to more youth events.
  • Before the event, provide an outreach workshop night during Youth Night for our teens.
  1. YMJA Retreats, Conferences, and Regionals
  • The YMJA works hard to provide our teens with a chance to fellowship with other Messianic teens in our region and in the country. Each year, we encourage our teens to attend the following YMJA events: Midwest Retreat, Midwest Regional, and the National Conference (each summer). These retreats and conferences allow teens to “get away” from their daily lives and spend an entire weekend focusing on G-d. Each retreat/ conference includes relevant teachings, powerful worship, interesting workshops, and fun activities for the teens.
  1. Fundraisers
  • We will provide opportunities for the teens to earn money for youth events and activities.
  • Each teen will have his or her own account. For every fundraiser each teen participates in, he or she receives a share of the profit.
  • Fundraisers can include: ice-cream social, car wash, Hanukkah Chocolate, etc.
  1. Service and Ministry
  • As a youth group, we believe in serving the L-rd through serving others.
  • A“Harvest Festival”(Halloween alternative) is a great opportunity for our teens to serve the children and families at Tikvat through providing a festival with carnival games, activities, and candy for the children.
  • In addition, we will participate in service opportunities in our community. service events can include volunteering at the JCC and serving at a local Soup Kitchen and delivering food for the Cleveland Joseph Project.

Connecting with Parents:

  1. Monthly Email
  • Each month, we will send out an email to all the parents and teens, which includes info about the upcoming weekend, upcoming events/activities, prayer requests, and a verse of the week.
  1. Parent Meetings
  • We will have about 2 Parent Meetings per year, which provide a chance for us to give parents important information, for parents to participate, and for all of us to pray for the teens together.

Optional Teen Discipleship

Screened & vetted volunteers along with Rabbi Eric will disciple teens individually on a consistent basis if there is a special need. Especially teens who: are new to the faith, are new to youth group, or have special circumstances in their lives that make personal discipleship beneficial. The length of discipleship may be 3-4 meetings all the way up to a year-long discipleship depending on the purpose and need. Discipleship meetings will always be with 2 adults and may include taking teens out to ice-cream or coffee for discipleship.

Ha Nevchar Youth Theme Verse:

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
