Our Vision and Values

Welcome. Grey Court is a successful, over-subscribed and well established school. Our ethos is embodied in the name of our trust: The Every Child, Every Day Academy Trust and signifies a commitment to enhancing the life chances of our young people. By using the richness of the backgrounds of the students we serve i.e. their gender, religion, race, academic ability and social circumstances, we seek to create a wide range of opportunities to seek out the spark that will ignite an individual child’s passion. In turn our young people are encouraged to use their passion to make a valuable contribution their communities. We seek to engender in them an independent “self-starter”, resilient and creative approach to life-long learning.

Grey Court has made excellent progress in the last 10 years however we are not complacent and seek to ensure that the next 3 years are as productive as possible. As a community i.e. governors, parents staff and students we have developed our core values and these form the basis for all our planning and review.

The plan is set out broadly around the five key strategic themes:

1.  To establish a high expectations and success culture

2.  To develop an aspirational and inspirational

3.  To develop a sustainable and high quality distributive leadership

4.  To build an innovative and life-long learning community

5.  To create and sustain an outstanding post-16 provision

All of the school’s work continues to focus essentially on improving the quality of its provision in order to enable all students to achieve the highest possible standards of attainment and achievement.

At Grey Court School we hope we make all our students feel, that they have the ability and support to achieve to a very high level. We work hard to ensure that they have the skills and self-belief to compete and flourish in a changing educational and social environment, no matter how challenging.

If you are a student, please be assured that throughout your school career we will work hard to get to know your ability and will provide you with clear knowledge and understanding of your next steps. We will support you every day and you will have fun through your learning.

If you are a teacher, please instil in the students a passion for your subject and continue to develop your craft. For all other members of the Grey Court community, please assist in ensuring that we develop well rounded young people in the myriad of ways you can.

We work to ensure that teachers deliver outstanding lessons and keep abreast of new techniques and research that impact positively on student progress. Students will be asked and encouraged to ask challenging and stimulating questions about the world in which they live and the teacher will adapt in real time to meet the needs of every student.

If you are a parent or carer it is important that you know that we have absolute belief in our young people and we experience, on a day to day basis, the fulfilment that working with young people can bring. However, we fully appreciate that raising a child can be tough at times and sometimes educating a child can be too. Therefore, it is clear that we need to work in partnership. We understand the demands of modern parenting. By talking about the importance of values such as honesty, self-reliance, and responsibility, together we can help our young people make good decisions supporting and enhancing the work we are doing at Grey Court.

With exciting times ahead we continue to drive “The Grey Court: an outstanding experience” agenda forward. We now have a state of the art sixth form building in place; a thriving 6th form with a broad curriculum which serves the academic profile of our students including A level courses and a variety of vocational training, as well as students studying for apprenticeships. Our facilities have been upgraded considerably and we will have a wide selection of activity areas outside, which include chickens, an allotment, an orchard, an outdoor performance area and wide-ranging sporting facilities.

Our curriculum is remodelled on a regular basis to ensure we motivate and inspire all our students still further and the school is used extensively by the local community. We are all excited by the journey we are on and hope you find our website an effective tool to learn more about us.
