HOW FRESH IS YOUR PATH DIRECTORY? If you currently own a PATH directory, check your “freshness date” at the bottom right-hand corner. Is it over a year old? Make sure you have the very latest information to make the right referrals for your clients. Resources are constantly changing. If you do not own PATH’s Directory and you are working with people in nearly any capacity, you need one! All others will be referred to the McLean County Health Department Adult Dental Clinic.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE? Residents of McLean County. Adults with low income and no health insurance.

Adults with dental pain, needing 1 or 2 teeth extracted.

WHAT WILL BE DONE? It will be an “extraction clinic.”

Limited to extractions of 1 or 2 teeth. This is not for multiple extractions. This is not for other dental care.

WHAT WILL IT COST? There will be no charges to participants.

All services are provided by volunteers, who are donating their time and services to address the dental pain of persons lacking access to care.

ALL PATIENTS WILL COMPLETE HEALTH HISTORY FORMS WHEN THEY ARRIVE ON THE DAY OF THE FREE CLINIC. SPANISH INTERPRETERS WILL BE AT THE CLINIC.

INtegRIty Counseling has openings for new clients. Our services are available to all focusing on the needs of the vulnerable and economically disadvantaged. We are a public charity and do not set a fee for services but work with clients to help them determine an appropriate amount to contribute for services. 2015-2016 Warm Neighbors/Cool Friends Ameren Assistance Program -

Eligibility requirements:

- 150-300% of poverty level (this is above the LiHeap income requirements)

- Must be: a senior or disabled or have a temporary documentable crisis

(Mitsubishi closing counts as a crisis)

- Bill cannot be over $750

- Must have active service in their home (cannot be shut-off)

- Income must be from an adult (cannot count child’s disability as their income)

- This is a matching program (we can match one payment up to $350)

- If the client qualified for LiHeap they will NOT qualify for WN/CF

Notes:

- Eligible clients can be helped once each heating/cooling season per calendar year.

- Cooling program runs from June - September

- Heating program runs from October - May

STATE FARM®’S GIVING TREE PROGRAM – Through the Giving Tree, State Farm employees continue to provide gifts for the less fortunate in our community. Eligible organizations (as defined below) that are located in McLean County and provide direct services to low-income individuals and families within the county can apply to participate in this year’s program. The Giving Tree is intended to provide gifts for low-income families within McLean County.

Eligible organizations meet the following criteria:

1. Tax Supported organizations that are part of the local government;

2. Nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations (except those established for religious purposes) under

501 (C) (3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code that are not private foundations under

Section 509 (a) (1), (2), or (3).

Women to Women Giving Circle Grant Applications - The Women to Women Giving Circle of Illinois Prairie Community Foundation will begin accepting applications for 2015 grants on September 29 at

For 2015, Women to Women continues the group’s concern for mental health issues, notably those that impact women and children. Priority will be given to proposals for projects and programs that focus on early intervention through training, collaboration, and/or education. Examples are programs dealing with emotional intelligence, mental health of rural children and youth, de-stigmatization of mental illness, anti-bullying, early identification of at-risk children, parental training and counseling to identify and address problems early, and training and collaboration efforts to support such programs.

Community Members Invited to Poverty Simulation - Members of the public are invited to participate in a Poverty Simulation sponsored by the Multicultural Leadership Program (MCLP) on Thursday, October 22 from 4:30-8:00 pm at the Western Avenue Community Center, 600 N. Western Avenue in Bloomington.

This powerful and unique role-playing experience enables participants age 16 and older to gain insight into the real-world obstacles of families who live in poverty and are struggling to meet their basic needs. Simulation attendees will include MCLP participants, their guests and community members from across Central Illinois.

There is no charge to attend, but participants are encouraged to bring a canned food donation. The members of the MCLP Class of 2016 do not need to register online. Imagine is Eastview’s Holiday Assistance Program and the 2015 Distribution Day is Saturday, December 5th. Walk in shopping begins at 2:00 pm but guests may arrive as early as 10:00 am on December 5th. We ask that you bring a photo ID and a piece of mail from your current address. The Central IllinoisChapter ofThe Links, Inc.Health and Human Services Committee in conjunction with the Susan G. Komen Memorial Affiliate are hosting their7th Annual Taking S.T.E.P.S. event at the DoubleTree Hotel andConference Center in Bloomington, IL. This is a free event for African American women toincrease their knowledge and awareness about breast cancer. The event is scheduled for October 24th from 8 am-1 pm, a continental breakfast and lunch will be served and free childcare is offered. From October 12-October 31, we are offering mammograms at Advocate BroMenn hospital. If a woman does not have insurance, we are covering the cost, if she does have insurance, her insurance company will be billed accordingly. On the day of the event, if women register for a mammogram, we do have transportation to the hospital and back to the event. Participants are asked to register online for the event, and at that time they can indicate whether they would like to have a mammogram. Vendors welcome with prior approval.

REGISTER FOR GIRLS BE U - Girls: Building Empowerment and Uniqueness (Girls BE U) is an empowerment group offered toMcLean County junior high and high school girls which allows them to explore their own unique andpositive qualities through an open and creative curriculum. As program participants gain greater self-awareness and confidence, their newly acquired skills and knowledge will enable them to becomeleaders and role models for others. The program allows girls to meet new people, try new things, andtap into their personal strengths and abilities within a safe and healthy environment.
