1. KENYA WEEK

The Face of Kenya in Tshwane, the Kenya High Commission will host a Kenya Week starting 29th October and culminating in ‘Kenya Nite’ on 5th November, 2011. The week-long event will present various facets of the diverse and vibrant Kenyan economy, social and political milieu through different activities to be held within Gauteng Province.

  1. Our main aim is to create an atmosphere which will entrench and enhance existing business relations, while creating a forum for investors from both countries to explore new business and investment opportunities and to exchange related information with potential partners.

Our theme for this years’ Kenya Week is “KENYA IN SOUTH AFRICA : TOWARDS ENRICHING OUR PARTNERSHIP.”

  2. Students Party: On 29th October, 2011 Kenyan students in Gauteng celebrate their youth in University of Pretoria.
  3. Prayers and Concert: On Sunday 30th October, 2011 come pray with us!We will commence the week with prayers and a powerful musical concert by renowned gospel musicians to grace the occasion and lift our spirits as we start the week. This event will be made possible in collaboration with the Kenyan Clergy in South Africa. The venue of the event is Sandton Convention Centre
  4. Networking Dinner:Get to know who is who in the business world. A Networking Dinner on 31st October, in partnership with Coca Cola is intended to launch the investment conference. The dinner will also serve to honour our heroines through the launch of the book‘Life Journeys: Seeking Destiny – Conversations with High Achieving Women in Kenya.’ We will observe a moment of silence for the Nobel Laureate, Wangari Maathai.A great opportunity to meet with great Kenyan women who have lived to tell their stories. The dinner will take place at Hilton Hotel, Sandton.

Investment Conference:The Investment Conference takes place on 1st November, 2011, in partnership with our gracious partner Department of Trade and Investment, South Africa.This is a great opportunity to learn about what Kenya has to offer in sectors such as tourism, roads, energy, manufacturing and trade. Following the promulgation of the constitution, new laws are in place which guarantees investor protection as well as cultivating a favourable environment for investments. The conference will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre.
  6. Investment Dinner: 1st November, 2011; Don’t go hungry after making billion rand deals!
  7. 5 km Marathon and fun run:Want to run with gold medallists from Kenya? And try your luck with Caster Semenya? This is your opportunity to rub shoulders with the best in Africa. You may even have a photo-op! The Marathon in partnership with Pretoria University takes place on 2nd November, 2011 at Pretoria University. The event is sponsored by Pretoria University, South African Airways and Spar.
  8. Rugby:We know that the best in the world are in New Zealand. This will not stop rugby aficionados from enjoying the ‘gentle’ game. The rugby match between the Kenyan 15’s and the PUMA’s takes place in Witbank on 3rd November 2011.
  9. Kenya Airways Golf Tournament:Aspiring Ernic Els or Tiger Woods – when he was at his best your time has come! The Golf Tournament in Partnership with Kenya Airways takes place on 4th November, 2011 at Peacanwood Golf Course, one of the most beautiful courses in South Africa. Kenya Airways has sponsored the event.
  10. Kenya Nitewill be held on 5th November 2011 at Indaba Club, Johannesburg from 18H00 till late. Great entertainment by Kayamba Roots, Bongani, a local South African artist and DJ Jemo, delicious food and a fantastic networking opportunity. The event starts at 18.00 till late.
