Confirmation Small Group Guides

Role Description

2017-2018

Purpose: To point youth to Christ by equipping youth in developing a lifelong relationship with Christ, be able to identify with the mission of the Church and build relationships with the peers, and administering the spiritual development of youth of Our Savior by pursing spiritual growth and doctrinal understanding through small groups.

Qualifications:

·  Desire to point youth to Christ

·  Member of Our Savior Lutheran Church

·  High School youth status (9th grade or higher) or older

·  Guides must be recommended by pastor, youth ministry team, board, or youth director.

·  Regular attendance in worship, communion, Bible study, and contributions at Our Savior Lutheran.

·  Possess the abilities to listen, guide discussion, and build relationships with youth.

·  Strive to live a Christian life focus on Christ salvation and forgiveness

Primary Responsibilities:

·  Serve as a Christian role model

·  Pray for the youth under your care (average 6 youth)

·  Be an advocate for Youth Ministry in the congregation.

·  Respect and enforce guidelines of Our Savior Rules of Conduct

·  Respect God, Respect Others, Respect Yourself

·  Teach Beliefs & Teaching of LCMS Church

·  Partner with adults and high school guides in guiding youth during small group time each Wednesday

·  Be a leader and guide youth in discussion for the week

·  Plan one service project during the year for your group to do together

·  Take weekly attendance

o  Turn into the turn-in box each night

·  Check weekly journals

o  Turn into the turn-in box each night

·  Attend guide lunch training meeting

Requirements: Able to volunteer for Wednesday evenings during September through April to guide youth (with another adult and high school guides) in 45 minutes of small group time by steering discussion, building relationships, and pointing youth to Christ.

·  Do weekly Highs and lows in your group (youth and adults participate)

·  Work with groups on memorizing the Apostles Creed, Lord’s Prayer, and their Confirmation Verse.

·  Do Bible Story Charades for each youth to research and report back to the group.

·  Attend Small Group Guide time as needed 6:40-7:00pm before small groups on Wednesdays 4 times a year.

·  Attend guide lunch training meeting August 23rd 6-8pm.
