1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

I)The People Of God

V.1 –Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scatteredthroughout …….

A)Strangers:

1)The word means pilgrim, sojourner, visitor, or exile

2)That’s what they were to this lost world!!

Philippians 3:20 (King James Version)
20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

3)We should never drift into a position where we think of this worldas being our permanent home.

4)we should keep our eyes and minds...focused upon heaven as our permanent home

5)We don’t need anything to anchor usdown.Paul kept this in mind:

2 Timothy 4:6 (King James Version)
6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

B)Paul said that he was DEPARTING, not DISAPPEARING!!

1)To DEPART, you go from one place to another.

2)Friend, keep in mind that there is a departing day!

A)…………………Notice the word scattered

V.1b – 2nd phrase- scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia,Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.

B)If God loved these people so much, why did He allow them to bescattered and be separated from one another?

ANSWER: Because there were lost people in Pontus, Galatia,Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia…and the rest of the world. Otherpeople needed to hear the Gospel.

III)The Provision Of God

( grace )means the undeserved favor and blessings of God

A)GRACE to see us through

1 Peter 1:2 (King James Version)
2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

B)God will furnish the strength ( grace) to face any trial in life.

Man has

  • rejected God
  • cursed God
  • sinned against God
  • disobeyed God
  • denied God

Man deserves nothing from God except judgment, condemnation, and punishment.

But God is perfect and is a gracious God—

"Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus" (Romans 3:24)."But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Phil. 4:19).

IV)The Peace Of God

A)Peace (eirēnē) means to be bound, joined, and weaved together.

1)The strengththat God provides, gives (peace)

2)God is able to give peace in the most severe trials.

V)Conclusion:

We are strangers in a foreign land, this is not our home.

Along the way, there will be trials, but God will give graceand Peace and He will be there with us.

He will neverleave us or forsake us!!!
