Newsletter #5 August 25, 2010

Our Grant request proposal to the ITC Travel Council (view the presentation on U-tube: ITC Grants 2010 Idaho Bed and Breakfast Association.) has been approved. We requested $49,718.00 and were awarded $11,000. To view the break down of the awards and the recipients, please visit this site:

We need to focus on getting better representation from Region 4, and Region 7, as those region ITC representatives chose not to support us this year through the ITC grant funds. Please, those of you that have a business in that region, consider joining us to make our association stronger!

Shar will be attending a required meeting on the administration of the grant on September 16th, with Renea Nelson from the state department. Once that is completed, we can begin to request funds from the grant to start work on Phase 2 of the website development which should progress rapidly. Phase 1 has been completed and paid for with your dues. We are anxious to start work on Phase 2 so that all of you can begin to get your lodging information loaded! For those of you that don’t have a website, our content management system will allow you to create your own mini website within the association site. We are also looking forward to working with Marsha Stearns on “Hot Leads” for all of the regions throughout the state! Thank you for your ongoing support, you can see what your membership dues have already accomplished. Our future plans include the creation of a state brochure, and our first year convention.

SAVE THE DATES…TUESDAY, OCTOBER 12TH & 13TH ! The self-funded convention will be held in Coeur d’Alene, starting at 6:30 on Tues. evening with the option to attend the North Idaho Tourism Summit the following day. We have secured nearby B&B lodging at a $65 rate for our members. If there is anything you would like addressed on the agenda for the convention, please email us. This event will be an opportunity for us to share an in-depth look at the website, get the “Hot Leads” program rolling, and fine tune ideas for what we would like to accomplish in 2011! Mark your calendars now!

Join our great association! Our Association holds a large umbrella because we include Guest Ranches; Tent Cabins; Dude Ranches; Traditional B&B’s; Country Inns; Cottages; & Farm Stays. We are working with the Professional Association of Innkeepers International, PAII, to get a reduced rate for association members, partnering with credit card processors that would help us with reduced credit card processing rates and insurance companies that will help package insurance designed for small lodging owners. We would like to encourage all of you who are not yet members of our state Association to join, and get your business advertised on our website! Send your check, only $75, made out to IBBA to the address below. We welcome your involvement!
